JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - The journalists' domino tournament organized by the Sports Journalism Section of the Indonesian Journalists Association (SIWO PWI) Jambi City has officially concluded. The organizers closed the three-day event on Friday evening, August 7, 2026, at Senyala Space Cafe in Jambi.
The tournament was attended by 64 journalists representing various media outlets in Jambi, including print media, online media, and television stations. SIWO PWI Jambi organized the tournament as part of the PWI Jambi work program and also to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026.The closing ceremony took place in a friendly and convivial atmosphere. Several PWI board members and police representatives attended the event. Among them were PWI Jambi adviser Mukhtadi Putra Nusa, who also serves on the PWI Central Board; Chairman of PWI Jambi Province H Ridwan Agus Depati; Jambi Police Chief Kombes Pol Ananto Herlambang; as well as other advisers and PWI board members at the provincial and city levels.
PWI Jambi Chairman Irwansyah praised SIWO PWI Jambi Chairman Viryzha and the entire organizing team for their dedication in successfully holding the domino tournament. According to him, the event was not merely about determining the winners, but also about identifying potential domino talent among journalists.
"Besides determining the winners, this event is also aimed at finding young players or domino athletes. We know that PWI organizes the National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas), so these members may be able to participate in the future," he said.Irwansyah explained that the tournament also served as a platform for maintaining and strengthening relationships among journalists. Sports and recreational activities such as a domino tournament could help foster solidarity among journalists as they carry out their professional duties in the field.
In his view, closer relationships among journalists can encourage better communication and stronger mutual understanding. This is important so that media workers in Jambi can continue to stand together in carrying out their respective journalistic responsibilities.Irwansyah also expressed his appreciation to the sole sponsor, Media Bidik Indonesia News, as well as Jambi Police Chief Kombes Pol Ananto Herlambang, who attended the closing ceremony. According to Irwansyah, the police chief's presence demonstrated the strong cooperation between the police and media representatives.
On the occasion, the organizers, together with the PWI Jambi board, presented certificates and prizes to the winners of the domino tournament.
Jambi Police Chief Kombes Pol Ananto Herlambang also praised the initiative taken by PWI Jambi and its Sports Journalism Section, SIWO, in organizing the domino tournament for journalists. In his view, the event provided journalists with an opportunity to strengthen camaraderie and solidarity outside their professional journalistic activities.
"This is an extraordinary event to strengthen relationships among journalists. I hope journalists in Jambi will continue to remain united and stand together," he said.On the same occasion, Kombes Pol Ananto Herlambang introduced himself as the new Jambi Police Chief. He asked media representatives for their support and prayers so that he could provide the best possible service to the community while maintaining security and public order within the jurisdiction of the Jambi Police.
The police chief's presence at the event also provided an important opportunity to strengthen communication between the police and journalists. Cooperation between the two sides is an important part of ensuring reliable information is delivered to the public and contributes to maintaining a safe and stable situation.
"As a PWI board member, I hope journalists in Jambi will continue to stand together and that the PWI Jambi leadership will be there for one another, supporting, encouraging, and accompanying each other. On behalf of PWI Jambi Province, I congratulate everyone on the successful implementation of this domino tournament. I also extend my congratulations to the winners," he said.
Ridwan Agus also commended the work of PWI Jambi, which has implemented various organizational programs in recent times. In his assessment, the activities carried out by PWI Jambi had proceeded well and smoothly."Continue implementing the work programs and continue to uphold the good name of PWI Jambi and PWI Jambi Province," he concluded.
Following the speeches, the closing ceremony continued with a door-prize draw and the presentation of prizes to the winners. The organizers awarded winners in both the doubles and singles categories.In the doubles category, Safi'i and Andre secured first place. Reza and Tarmizi finished second, while Soleh and Jefri took third place.
In the singles category, Rio, a journalist with Jambi Ekspres, emerged as the winner. Nanang Mariadi of Antara Jambi finished second, while Yosua Gultom of Wahana News placed third.The journalists' domino tournament not only produced winners, but also created a space for journalists from various media outlets in Jambi to meet and exchange ideas. Through the event, PWI Jambi hopes to further strengthen the spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and unity among journalists, while also providing an opportunity to develop domino athletes who can represent PWI at higher-level journalists' sporting events.
