Yunus, widely known as Dun Belanda, has acknowledged his wrongdoing and formally apologized to Aceh Timur Regent Iskandar Usman Al'farlaky after repeatedly making public accusations that were considered defamatory and damaging to the Regent's reputation. Although the dispute between Dun Belanda and the Regent had been settled, a new controversy emerged after a video circulated widely on social media. In the video, Dun Belanda alleged that Aceh Timur Deputy Regent T. Zainal Abidin had instructed him to publicly criticize the Regent and attempt to remove him from office.
In the widely shared recording, Dun Belanda stated: "I was instructed by the Deputy Regent of Aceh Timur. If I succeeded in bringing down the Regent, he promised me a house and a car."The statement immediately drew public attention because it directly mentioned the name of Deputy Regent T. Zainal Abidin.
Following the video's circulation, this media outlet contacted T. Zainal Abidin via WhatsApp on Sunday, July 26, 2026, to seek his response to the allegations."These allegations are defamatory. I do not personally know Dun Belanda. I have only heard his name because he frequently criticizes people on TikTok," Zainal Abidin said.
According to him, the accusations are entirely baseless and have damaged his reputation as a public official.Zainal Abidin also said he has given Dun Belanda a deadline of two 24-hour periods to publicly clarify his statements.
"Dun Belanda has defamed me. I am giving him two 24-hour periods to clarify his statement claiming that I instructed him to bring down the Regent," he said.He further warned that legal action would be taken if no clarification is issued within the specified deadline.
According to Zainal Abidin, his legal team will file a police report if Dun Belanda fails to explain or retract the allegations."If Dun Belanda does not clarify his statements, we will file a report with the police."
He added that the allegations could create public misunderstanding and undermine the integrity of the Aceh Timur regional administration. In closing, Zainal Abidin left the matter to public judgment while reiterating that, in his view, the information circulated by Dun Belanda is false and defamatory.
"It is up to the public whether they choose to believe it or not. I simply want to make it clear that, in my opinion, Dun Belanda's statements are defamatory," Zainal Abidin concluded. The case has attracted widespread public attention in Aceh Timur because it involves several senior regional officials. As of the publication of this report, Dun Belanda had not issued any further response to the Deputy Regent's denial or provided any public clarification within the deadline that had been set. (IDNC)
