LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Around 240 participants took part in the 2026 Domino Sports (ORADO) Tournament for the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief's Cup. The tournament was held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Convention Hall of the Grand Suma Blok Songo Hotel in Kotapinang.
The tournament was contested in the General and Executive categories. A total of 64 participants competed in the Executive category, while more than 100 participants took part in the General category.Among those attending the event were Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang, Deputy Regent Syahdian Purba Siboro, Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, Chairman of the North Sumatra Provincial ORADO Association Yopie H. Batubara, the doctor responsible for the health sector of the Labuhanbatu Selatan National Sports Committee, dr. Hasana Lisa Purba Siboro, M.K.M., Julham Dalimuthe, Chairman of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regional Legislative Council Ari Winata, Regional Government Secretary M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, Commander of Military District 11 Kotapinang Major Inf Hendra Gunawan, representatives of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Prosecutor's Office, Labuhanbatu Selatan police personnel, and several community figures.
The organizers also held an exhibition match featuring a doubles pairing of Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang and Legislative Council Chairman Ari Winata against Deputy Regent Syahdian Purba Siboro and Arwi Winata.The exhibition match was part of a series of activities aimed at introducing ORADO to the public while strengthening relations among the regional government, police, sports organizations, and the community.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang welcomed the 2026 ORADO Tournament for the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief's Cup. In his view, dominoes can serve as a positive sporting activity when conducted within an organized sporting framework, supported by clear rules and appropriate development programs.
"On behalf of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government, I welcome the presence and activities of ORADO. I hope this organization will not only serve as a platform for pursuing hobbies and developing the sport of dominoes, but also help strengthen togetherness, sportsmanship, solidarity, and brotherhood within the community," Fery said.According to Fery, ORADO can also help change public perceptions of dominoes, which some members of the community have previously viewed as a negative activity.
"This is a positive activity. We want to ensure that something that may previously have been viewed negatively can be directed toward a positive activity. When dominoes are played as a sport, there are of course clear rules, sportsmanship, and proper support. We hope this can provide a good platform for the community," he said.Fery reminded participants that competition should not be solely about winning. Friendship and maintaining good relations among participants are also important aspects of sport.
"Victory and defeat are part of competition, but preserving friendship is a far more important goal," he emphasized.
Chairman of ORADO Labuhanbatu Selatan Handry Khusuma, S.Kom., said the organization's new management had only recently received its mandate to lead the organization. Nevertheless, the new board immediately organized a tournament to introduce ORADO to the public.
"This is the first tournament we have organized in Labusel. We moved quickly even though we only recently received the mandate as the new management," said the man known as Hansen.Handry explained that the ORADO Labuhanbatu Selatan board would expand its information and public outreach efforts to villages, communities, and schools. ORADO is expected to provide another avenue for positive activities, particularly for the younger generation.
In his view, the development of ORADO requires support from the regional government, police, the National Sports Committee (KONI), and various community groups."Hopefully, with the support of all parties, we can continue organizing positive tournaments like this in the future. Above all, we want to keep the community away from gambling and drugs," he said.
Handry explained that ORADO carries the slogan "Memintarkan Indonesia," which can be understood as "Making Indonesia Smarter." The game of dominoes requires concentration, accuracy, the ability to read situations, and strategic thinking when determining the next moves.ORADO Labuhanbatu Selatan also operates under the umbrella of KONI. This provides the organization with an opportunity to develop the sport of dominoes in a structured and systematic manner.

In the General category, two motorcycles were provided as prizes for the winners. In addition, the first- through fourth-place finishers received electronic devices.
Despite the attractive prizes, the organizers placed sportsmanship and fair play at the center of the competition.
