DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – The Provincial Government of North Sumatra, under the directive of Governor Bobby Nasution, has launched a large-scale inspection of official and operational government vehicles in 2026. The initiative is aimed at improving asset management, strengthening administrative order, and ensuring compliance with regional tax obligations.
The activity was held on Monday (18/05/2026) at the multipurpose hall of the Astaka Complex on Jalan Willem Iskandar, Deliserdang. The inspection was led by Acting Provincial Secretary Sulaiman Harahap and attended by various regional government organizations and related agencies.

The North Sumatra Provincial Government scheduled a one-week inspection and verification exercise, running from May 18 to 25, 2026. The program is part of a broader effort to safeguard regional assets, particularly four-wheeled official vehicles used to support public services.Sulaiman Harahap emphasized that the inspection is intended to ensure full transparency in the recording of state assets and to confirm that all vehicles are used according to their designated functions.

Enforcing Administrative and Tax Compliance
Sulaiman further stressed that the inspection also focuses on administrative compliance, including the timely payment of motor vehicle taxes.Vehicles found to be non-compliant with tax obligations will be temporarily withheld until all requirements are fulfilled before being returned to the respective agencies.

The provincial inspectorate was involved to ensure the initiative goes beyond symbolic enforcement and delivers tangible administrative results.
The provincial government also plans to introduce official stickers for all government vehicles to prevent misuse and improve monitoring of private use.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Tax Agency, Sutan Tolang Lubis, urged cities and regencies across North Sumatra to adopt similar measures to strengthen fiscal discipline."Regional governments should also ensure that vehicle tax payments are made on time," he said.
