LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM The 2026 International Workers' Day (May Day) commemoration in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency was held in a safe, orderly, and harmonious atmosphere on Friday, May 1, 2026. The event served not only as an annual observance but also as a strategic platform to strengthen cooperation between workers, the government, and security forces.

Strong Collaboration Between Workers, Government, and Security Forces

The central celebration took place at the "Santun Berkata Bijak Berkarya" Hall in Kotapinang District. From early morning, participants gathered for a series of activities in a warm and family-oriented environment. Unlike in some other regions, the event proceeded without tension or conflict, reflecting a stable industrial climate in the area.

Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Aditya S.P. Sembiring Muham, S.I.K., attended the event in person, reaffirming the police commitment to maintaining industrial harmony and public order.

"This Labour Day moment is intended to strengthen synergy between workers, the government, and security forces. We are committed to ensuring public safety and stability," he stated.

Open Dialogue on Workers' Rights and Concerns

The event was also attended by Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang, Deputy Regent Syahdian Purba Siboro, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), heads of regional agencies (OPD), company representatives, and labor unions including FSPSI, Serbundo, and SP Bun.

The broad participation highlighted an inclusive approach to dialogue between stakeholders in the region.

The program featured group aerobics, prayer sessions, committee reports, and speeches from labor representatives. Workers raised key issues including improved working conditions, occupational safety, and the protection of normative labor rights.

Discussions were conducted constructively, allowing direct communication between workers and government representatives without escalation or disagreement.

Commitment to Protection, Welfare, and Stability

In his remarks, Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang emphasized the essential role of workers in regional development while stressing the importance of maintaining a balance between labor welfare and investment climate.

During the event, various social benefits and recognitions were distributed, including compensation support from the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan employment insurance program for vulnerable workers as part of social protection efforts. The celebration was further enlivened with entertainment activities and a raffle draw.

Police Chief AKBP Aditya S.P. Sembiring Muham described this year's May Day as a reflection of maturity among all stakeholders, stressing that security stability is key to shared prosperity.

"Workers are an essential part of development. When conditions are safe and industrial relations remain stable, community welfare will also increase," he said.
