DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Regent of Deli Serdang, Asri Ludin Tambunan, has reaffirmed the regional government's full support for the construction of the Integrated Campus or Campus IV of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) in Saentis Village, Percut Sei Tuan District.

The statement was made during a site inspection on Tuesday (April 21, 2026), alongside UMSU Rector Prof. Agussani and members of the academic community.

Construction Progress Reaches 95 Percent

During the visit, the Regent noted significant progress in several campus buildings designated as part of the venue for the 49th Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congress (Muktamar) in 2027. Some structures have reached up to 95 percent completion, while others are at around 70 percent.

"There are buildings that are already 95 percent complete, while others are at around 70 percent. Some facilities are expected to begin operation as early as January. This is a very positive development for the region, especially Saentis and Percut Sei Tuan," said Asri Ludin.

Infrastructure Works to Be Accelerated

The Deli Serdang government is also accelerating infrastructure development to ensure smooth preparation for the 2027 Muktamar and to enhance North Sumatra's regional image. Discussions have been held with PTPN I regarding the expansion of access roads to the campus area, along with an official request for land clearance for road construction.

"There are positive indications that road construction will begin soon. Once building works slow down, road development around the campus is scheduled to start in January," he added.

UMSU Rector Prof. Agussani stated that the Regent's visit serves as a strong motivation to accelerate the campus project, which is one of the largest educational developments in North Sumatra.

"The Regent's visit is a great encouragement for us. From the beginning, he has requested regular updates on the progress and has now seen the development firsthand," he said.

He added that government support sends a strong signal for the project's completion. "We thank the Regent for his continuous support. We aim to begin operations in early 2027 and be fully ready to host the Muhammadiyah Muktamar in Deli Serdang by November 2027."

The integrated campus will feature facilities such as the Berkemajuan Auditorium, Walidah Sports Hall, KH Ahmad Dahlan Mosque, SPPG Building, administrative offices, and green open spaces. (IDNC)
