BENER MERIAH | INDATANEWS.COM- The Indonesian central government and the Aceh provincial administration are strengthening coordination to accelerate rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts following the hydrometeorological disaster that struck Bener Meriah Regency. The joint commitment was highlighted during a working visit by the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia together with Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in Bener Meriah.
The working visit represented a concrete government effort to ensure that the recovery of disaster-affected areas is carried out in accordance with the needs of local communities. The Minister of Home Affairs, accompanied by the Aceh Deputy Governor, reviewed the latest conditions of disaster management efforts and ensured that rehabilitation and reconstruction programs could be implemented effectively.
The delegation of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Aceh Deputy Governor departed from Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Blang Bintang and headed to Rembele Airport. Upon arrival in Bener Meriah Regency, the delegation continued its journey to the office of the Regent of Bener Meriah to attend a coordination meeting aimed at accelerating post-disaster recovery.
At the Pendopo of the Regent of Bener Meriah, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Aceh Deputy Governor, and the delegation were welcomed by Regent Tagore Abubakar along with members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).

The main agenda of the working visit continued with a coordination meeting on accelerating rehabilitation, reconstruction, and recovery following the hydrometeorological disaster at the Pendopo Hall of the Regent of Bener Meriah.
The meeting was attended by Forkopimda representatives, district officials, community leaders, and regional government representatives. Participants discussed the latest situation in affected areas and formulated strategic measures to speed up the recovery process.
During the meeting, the central government, the Aceh provincial administration, and the Bener Meriah Regency Government discussed various priority measures to address the impacts of the disaster. One of the key focuses was accelerating the repair of bridges and other infrastructure facilities damaged by the hydrometeorological disaster.
The government hopes that cooperation among different levels of administration will accelerate the restoration of public access routes, allowing social activities and economic activities in affected areas to return to normal.
Coordination between the central and regional governments is an important element in ensuring that rehabilitation and reconstruction processes are aligned with the actual needs of the community. Every measure taken is designed to provide direct benefits to affected residents.
After the coordination meeting concluded, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Aceh Deputy Governor, the Regent of Bener Meriah, and the delegation directly inspected the site of a bridge damaged by the disaster.
The inspection was conducted to ensure that the progress of repairs on the ground was proceeding according to plan. It also aimed to assess the actual infrastructure needs of residents, particularly connectivity facilities that play an important role in supporting daily activities.
The Minister of Home Affairs and the regional government ensured that rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts were not only focused on restoring physical infrastructure but also on supporting the rapid recovery of community life.
The government continues to monitor various infrastructure repair projects to ensure that recovery efforts are carried out quickly and effectively. Challenges faced in the field will be addressed through stronger cooperation among relevant authorities.
