JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM - The Aceh Provincial Government is strengthening coordination with the central government to accelerate infrastructure recovery in Gayo Lues Regency and other areas of Aceh affected by hydrometeorological disasters. The measures are part of the regional government's efforts to restore transportation links, facilitate residents' activities, and ensure that permanent infrastructure reconstruction can begin without delay.
Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhullah, popularly known as Dek Fadh, accompanied by Gayo Lues Regent Suhaidi, visited the Ministry of Public Works in Jakarta on Monday, August 24, 2026. During the meeting, they discussed several urgent infrastructure needs requiring permanent solutions."Strengthening coordination is very important to accelerate the recovery of disaster-affected areas," Deputy Governor Dek Fadh said.
During the meeting with several representatives of the Ministry of Public Works, the officials specifically discussed strategic infrastructure points affected by the disaster. The Aceh Provincial Government and Gayo Lues Regency Government subsequently proposed several construction and rehabilitation projects to be included on the central government's priority list."We submitted these proposals to restore transportation links, ensure balanced development, and protect the safety of the people of Gayo Lues," Deputy Governor Dek Fadh said. "Resilient infrastructure is a fundamental need for the community. We hope the Ministry of Public Works can respond quickly to these proposals."
The Aceh Government considers post-disaster infrastructure rehabilitation an urgent necessity, as damage to roads and bridges could disrupt connectivity between regions. It could also slow the distribution of residents' daily necessities and affect social and economic activities.For this reason, the regional government is pushing for permanent measures to be implemented once emergency response operations have been carried out. The move is intended to give residents greater confidence as they resume their daily activities more safely and smoothly.
"That is why roads and bridges are our top priority following the hydrometeorological disasters, so that the people of Gayo Lues can resume their activities safely and smoothly," Suhaidi said on the same occasion.
Gayo Lues Regent Suhaidi said the meeting with the Ministry of Public Works also served as a follow-up to two visits by the Vice President to Gayo Lues. During those visits, the Vice President inspected damage to several infrastructure facilities on the ground.
The visits also provided the regional government with an opportunity to convey various urgent needs requiring support from the central government. The Gayo Lues Regency Government subsequently prepared proposals based on conditions in the field, particularly for infrastructure that is crucial to the community's transportation network.Suhaidi said emergency response measures had already begun to be implemented gradually. However, the regional government believes permanent reconstruction should not be delayed for too long, as residents depend on the rapid restoration of transportation routes.
"Emergency measures are being implemented gradually. However, permanent reconstruction must begin soon so that the community's economic and social activities are not further disrupted," he said.The Aceh Government and Gayo Lues Regency Government hope the central government will quickly support the proposals. Accelerating permanent recovery is expected not only to restore infrastructure functionality but also to strengthen the region's resilience against potential hydrometeorological disasters in the future.
The proposed bridges include the Aih-Bobo Bridge, with a span of 80 meters, and the Kendawi Bridge, also spanning 80 meters. The regional government also proposed the permanent reconstruction of the Rerebe Bridge in Tripe Jaya District, which has a span of 180 meters.
In addition, the Pintu-Rime Bridge, with a span of 180 meters; the Atu-Peltak-Penomon-Jaya Bridge, spanning 80 meters; and the Sp.-Kenyaran–Aih-Ilang Bridge, also spanning 80 meters, are included on the proposal list. The Lesten Bridge, with a span of 120 meters, was also proposed.Alongside the seven bridges, the construction of the 10.7-kilometer Lesten road was also included among the infrastructure projects for which the regional government is seeking accelerated permanent recovery.
The Aceh Government hopes central government support for these infrastructure projects can be implemented quickly. Beyond restoring disaster-damaged transportation routes, permanent reconstruction is also an important step toward maintaining public mobility and strengthening the economic foundations of Gayo Lues.Through accelerated infrastructure recovery, the regional government aims to enable residents to resume their activities normally. Functional roads and bridges are also expected to facilitate the distribution of goods, reopen connections between regions, and provide greater security for people who depend on the transportation network in their daily lives.
The strengthened coordination between the Aceh Provincial Government, the Gayo Lues Regency Government, and the central government is part of efforts to ensure that post-disaster measures do not remain limited to the emergency response phase. The regional government is pressing for permanent reconstruction so that recovery can be carried out comprehensively and provide long-term benefits to the community.
