LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The closing ceremony of the 50th Pekan Raya Sumatera Utara (PRSU) in 2026 became an important moment for the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government to further promote regional potential and encourage new investment opportunities.
At the largest exhibition event in North Sumatra, the Labuhanbatu SelatanGovernment showcased various leading economic sectors, including products from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), agriculture, plantation industries, and the tourism sector to the public, business communities, and potential investors.The month-long 50th PRSU generated positive economic impacts, with an estimated circulation of around Rp50 billion. The figure demonstrates that the event served not only as a public entertainment platform but also as an important driver for regional economic growth, investment promotion, and the expansion of market access for local products.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang personally attended the closing ceremony of the 50th PRSU, which was held on Sunday evening, August 2, 2026, at the Tapian Daya venue on Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto, Medan.Fery was accompanied by Labuhanbatu Selatan Regional Secretary M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, the regent's assistants and special advisors, heads of regional government organizations (OPD), as well as district heads within the South Labuhanbatu administration.
The closing ceremony of the 50th PRSU was officially led by the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, H. Surya, B.Sc. In his speech, he stated that PRSU has developed into a collaborative platform that brings together the potential, creativity, innovation, and economic strength of all regencies and cities across North Sumatra.
According to Surya, every region has its own unique strengths that must continue to be developed so they can contribute to improving public welfare. Therefore, PRSU is expected to become a gateway for investment growth, MSME strengthening, business network expansion, tourism development, and the advancement of regional innovation."Every region has its own potential, and the North Sumatra Provincial Government will continue to support efforts so that these potentials can be developed through a stronger investment climate, improved regional competitiveness, and better public services," Surya said.
He also praised the participation of MSME players at the 50th PRSU. The North Sumatra Provincial Government, he said, would continue providing support through business development programs, financing access, market expansion, and capacity building for MSME entrepreneurs to help them compete at national and global levels.For the Labuhanbatu Selatan Government, participation in the 50th PRSU was not merely an exhibition activity. The event was used as a strategic step to introduce the region's identity and open opportunities for economic cooperation with various partners.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang stated that the 50th PRSU provided an important opportunity for South Labuhanbatu to showcase its diverse regional strengths.
He explained that the sectors presented included MSME products, agriculture, plantations, tourism, and other economic potentials with significant development prospects."The 50th PRSU is a valuable space to introduce the potential of Labuhanbatu Selatan, ranging from MSME products, agriculture, plantations, tourism, to other leading sectors. He emphasized that the success of regional promotion should not only be measured by the number of visitors but also by whether it creates new market access for local products and encourages investors to invest capital in South Labuhanbatu.Fery also expressed his appreciation to all Labuhanbatu Selatan Government employees, MSME actors, and all parties who supported the successful participation of South Labuhanbatu at the 50th PRSU in 2026.
"We hope that what we presented during the 50th PRSU can continue to be developed even after the event ends. The important thing is that regional potential and community products become increasingly recognized, reach wider markets, and contribute to improving the people's economy," he said.
The President Director of PT Pembangunan Prasarana Sumatera Utara (PPSU), Ferry Indra, reported the results of the 50th PRSU implementation in 2026. He stated that the event attracted a total of 161,309 visitors throughout its one-month duration.
In addition to visitor numbers, PRSU 2026 recorded an estimated economic circulation of around Rp50 billion. Ferry explained that this year's event was not only focused on attendance figures but also on improving the overall quality of implementation."The results have not fully reached the expected target, but we are not only looking at quantity. We are also focusing on quality in terms of security, comfort, and management. This is part of PRSU's transformation process toward a better future," he said.
Besides promoting investment and regional flagship products, PRSU 2026 also featured various competitions, including contemporary dance, singing competitions, creative gymnastics, the selection of the best exhibition booth, and other activities.Around 3,000 artists and performers participated in the 50th PRSU, with 75 percent of them being local artists and performers from North Sumatra.
The conclusion of the 50th PRSU reflects strong cooperation among regions in building an inclusive and sustainable economy in North Sumatra. The closing ceremony of the 50th PRSU was also attended by Acting Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Province Sulaiman Harahap, representatives of regional leadership and security institutions (Forkopimda), consuls and consul generals from friendly countries, mayors and regents from across North Sumatra, representatives of state-owned and regional enterprises, as well as heads of agencies within the North Sumatra Provincial Government.(IDNC)
