22 Teams Compete in Karang Taruna Volleyball Tournament in Labuhanbatu Selatan

VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT OFFICIALLY OPENED: Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang officially opens the volleyball tournament for the Labuhanbatu Selatan Karang Taruna MPKT Chairman’s Cup, featuring 22 teams. The opening ceremony was held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the volleyball court of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent’s Office.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - A total of 22 teams are taking part in the volleyball tournament for the Labuhanbatu Selatan Karang Taruna MPKT Chairman's Cup. The tournament is being held to commemorate the 66th anniversary of Karang Taruna. The matches are being played at the volleyball court of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent's Office and were officially opened by Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Fery officially opened the tournament by serving the first ball on the court. The Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government is supporting the event as a platform for young people to develop their sporting talents while strengthening community spirit and fair play.

In remarks delivered through the Head of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora), Zulad, Regent Fery welcomed the event initiated by Karang Taruna.

In his view, sporting events are not solely about determining a winner. They can also help strengthen relationships among community members, foster a sense of togetherness and serve as a means of developing the younger generation.

"Karang Taruna plays an important role as a platform for young people to get involved and contribute to regional development. Therefore, I urge all young people in Labuhanbatu Selatan to continue maintaining the spirit of togetherness, stay away from drugs and juvenile delinquency, and fill their youth with positive and productive activities," Fery said.

Fery also called on all participants to compete in a sporting manner and respect their opponents. He reminded them that victory should not be the sole measure of success in a competition.

"Compete with full commitment, put fair play first, and consider victory a bonus for your efforts," he said.

Regent Urges Youth to Stay Away From Drugs

Fery said sporting activities could provide young people with a positive space to channel their energy and further develop their abilities. For this reason, he encouraged the younger generation in Labuhanbatu Selatan to spend their time engaging in productive activities.

At the same time, he congratulated Karang Taruna on its 66th anniversary. He expressed hope that the anniversary would motivate young people to take an even more active role in the development of the region.

"Let the spirit of sport become the spirit of working together to build an increasingly progressive and prosperous Labuhanbatu Selatan," he said in closing.

The Chairman of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Karang Taruna MPKT, Muhammad Rafiq Simatupang, said the tournament was intended as a platform to bring together young people from various groups.

He expressed hope that the competition would strengthen solidarity and bonds among young people across Labuhanbatu Selatan.

"Our hope is that this event can help unite all young people in Labuhanbatu Selatan even more strongly, so they can stand together and maintain the spirit of sportsmanship," Muhammad Rafiq Simatupang said.

According to Rafiq, participants could continue to compete against one another during the matches while maintaining a competitive spirit. At the same time, he urged all players to preserve good relationships and a sense of solidarity even after the matches had ended.

He emphasized that sports play an important role in building teamwork, as every player must carry out their respective responsibilities and communicate with teammates to achieve the best possible result.

22 Teams Already Registered for Tournament

Chairman of Karang Taruna Labuhanbatu Selatan Andi Syahputra Nasution, S.Pd.I., said enthusiasm among participants for the tournament had been high. By the time the event was officially opened, a total of 22 teams had registered.

"Insyaallah, as of today, 22 teams have registered to participate. The closing event will be held on September 30," Andi said.

Andi explained that the event had received the approval and support of Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang as well as the Chairman of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Karang Taruna MPKT.

He expressed hope that the tournament would not only serve as part of the 66th anniversary celebrations of Karang Taruna but could develop into an annual competition.

According to Andi, the organizers also intend to use the competition to identify and develop young sporting talent in Labuhanbatu Selatan.

In addition to promoting sports, Karang Taruna is also placing particular emphasis on efforts to keep the younger generation away from drug abuse. Andi said his organization would conduct an evaluation to improve the implementation of future tournaments.

"In the future, we will improve the system. We will also recruit healthy young people who stay away from drugs," Andi emphasized.

Andi said Karang Taruna wanted to provide young people with more positive activities. In his view, sports can be an important means of encouraging teenagers to participate in healthy and productive activities.

The volleyball tournament for the Labuhanbatu Selatan Karang Taruna MPKT Chairman's Cup will continue until the closing event on September 30, 2026. The organizers hope all matches will run safely and orderly, with the spirit of fair play maintained throughout the competition.

Beyond the battle for the tournament title, the competition is also part of Karang Taruna Labuhanbatu Selatan's youth activities, which aim to strengthen solidarity and encourage young people to participate in community life.
