DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Regent of Deli Serdang, Asri Ludin Tambunan, officially inaugurated Simpang Kayu Besar in Tanjung Morawa District, North Sumatra, Indonesia, as the region's newest culinary hotspot. The initiative aims to boost the local economy and support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Bicycle Tour and Community Breakfast Kick Off the EventThe launch began with a community bicycle tour from the Regent's residence in Lubuk Pakam to Jalan Limau Manis in Simpang Kayu Besar on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Empowering SMEs and Local Economy
Regent Asri Ludin highlighted that the area was strategically developed to consolidate previously scattered SMEs along Jalan Limau Manis into a structured culinary center. The former PTPN warehouse will be transformed into a culinary hub with supporting facilities, managed by the local community through the village-owned enterprise (BUMDes)."The Deli Serdang government aims to make these SMEs more attractive and turn the area into one of the region's leading culinary destinations. We hope it will draw not only locals but also visitors from other regions," said Asri Ludin.

The Regent emphasized that the project reflects the local government's commitment to fostering a people-centered economy, recognizing SMEs as pillars of regional development.
"We want to enhance their dignity through organized sales spaces. This marks the beginning of an economic uplift for local SMEs," he added.
Hopes for a New Landmark
Tanjung Morawa District Head, Gontar Syahputra Panjaitan, praised the government's attention and support for the area's development. He expressed optimism that the culinary center would not only beautify the region but also improve residents' quality of life."We thank the Regent for his comprehensive support.
