DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Government of Deli Serdang Regency officially launched the "Deli Serdang Mengaji" program on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Masjid Agung Sultan Thaf Sinar Basarsyah. The initiative marks a strategic step to reinforce religious values and build a morally grounded and integrity-driven human resource base across the bureaucracy and wider community.

Developed by the LPTQ Deli Serdang, the program is designed not merely as a symbolic religious activity, but as a sustainable movement to embed Qur'anic values into the daily lives of civil servants and the public.

The launch ceremony coincided with the farewell event for the Deli Serdang contingent participating in the provincial-level Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) competition, underscoring the local government's commitment to fostering a Qur'an-based generation capable of competing at regional and national levels.

Regent Emphasizes Spiritual Foundation in Governance

Regent of Deli Serdang, Asri Ludin Tambunan, officially inaugurated the program before government officials, MTQ participants, and invited guests at the mosque.

In his remarks, he stressed that Qur'anic recitation should not be viewed merely as a ritual obligation, but as a spiritual necessity in daily life, particularly for public servants who play a key role in delivering government services.

"Today we begin Deli Serdang Mengaji. This is part of our vision to build a more religious Deli Serdang. Reading the Qur'an is a fundamental spiritual necessity," he stated.

ASN as Core of Qur'anic Character Development

The regional government emphasized that the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) will serve as the primary focus of the program in its early phase. ASN are expected not only to perform their duties professionally but also to embody ethical and spiritual values in public service.

"We want every action in service to be carried out with awareness of God. That is why we begin with ASN," the Regent said.

The initiative aims to establish a work culture that integrates professionalism with strong moral and spiritual foundations, ensuring that Qur'anic values are reflected in conduct, discipline, and public service delivery.

Program Expansion to Schools and Wider Community

The "Deli Serdang Mengaji" program will be implemented in stages. After focusing on government employees, it will be expanded to schools in coordination with the education authorities, and eventually extended to the broader community.

According to the Regent, this gradual approach is intended to create a collective movement where the Qur'an is not only read but also lived as a guiding principle in daily life.

The expansion into the education sector is expected to produce a younger generation that is not only academically competent but also morally strong and socially responsible.

The program reflects the Deli Serdang government's broader development strategy, which goes beyond infrastructure and economic growth to include strengthening the moral and spiritual foundations of society. (IDNC)
