DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Regional Finance and Asset Agency of Deli Serdang Regency (BKAD) has begun the process of filling the post of deputy head of the regional treasury administration sub-division following the resignation of its previous postholder. At the same time, the Deli Serdang Regency Inspectorate is investigating allegations that a staff member involved in financial administration may have received improper payments from third parties.
The investigation forms part of wider efforts to uphold integrity among public servants, particularly those responsible for managing regional finances. As of Tuesday evening, 13 October 2026, the Inspectorate was continuing to gather statements from various individuals to establish the facts surrounding the alleged misconduct.Eddy Hermawan, head of the regional financial administration division at BKAD Deli Serdang, confirmed that the deputy head of the regional treasury administration sub-division had resigned. He also referred to allegations that payments may have been accepted from third parties. The matter is now under investigation by the Inspectorate.
"There is a suspicion that bribes were accepted from third parties," Eddy said.Although the process of filling the vacant post is already under way, the allegations require further investigation in accordance with applicable regulations. The alleged acceptance of bribes must therefore be treated as an unresolved matter rather than an established violation.
Eddy explained that BKAD was still completing the administrative procedures required to appoint a new deputy head of the regional treasury administration sub-division. The personnel change is intended to maintain operational continuity within the agency while strengthening credibility and accountability in the management of regional finances.
The change forms part of an organisational restructuring. However, it must proceed alongside the investigation into the alleged misconduct to ensure that all issues identified are addressed in accordance with the applicable regulations. The regional financial administration division plays an important role in ensuring the proper management of public funds at regional level. The integrity of public servants, compliance with prescribed procedures and transparency in carrying out official duties must therefore be maintained. These principles provide an essential foundation for accountability in the use of public money.
BKAD must also ensure that its ongoing duties continue without interruption while the administrative process to fill the vacant post is completed. This is intended to prevent the organisational changes from disrupting public services or the proper administration of regional finances. The interviews form part of the initial information-gathering stage. According to the Inspectorate, further individuals may be summoned if they are able to provide relevant information to help establish what happened.
"Next, we will summon other parties to support the collection of evidence relating to these allegations," Gita said.Statements from various individuals are needed to enable investigators to cross-check the information available, establish the sequence of events and gather relevant evidence concerning the alleged acceptance of bribes. The findings will subsequently serve as the basis for any further action under the applicable procedures and within the relevant authorities' remit.
The Inspectorate has not yet issued a final assessment of the allegations based on the information gathered so far. The next stages of the investigation will therefore depend on the collection of additional evidence and statements from the individuals involved. This position highlights the importance of integrity among public servants in regional administration. Transparent and accountable financial management requires compliance with regulations, effective implementation of oversight mechanisms and consistent follow-up on suspected irregularities.
In this case, the Inspectorate's investigation is intended to establish the facts by collecting statements and evidence before any further decisions are made. The process is also intended to give the individuals concerned an opportunity to respond and ensure that the allegations are examined objectively. The public relies on regional finances being managed responsibly and transparently. A transparent investigative process, proper application of the relevant regulations and factual reporting based on verifiable information are therefore important to maintaining public confidence in the regional administration.
BKAD and the Inspectorate are currently carrying out separate but related responsibilities. While BKAD is advancing the administrative process to fill the vacant post, the Inspectorate is continuing its investigation into the alleged acceptance of bribes. The next steps will depend on the findings from interviews and evidence collection, as well as any subsequent action taken in accordance with the applicable regulations.
