MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The North Sumatra chapter of the Forum Jurnalis Perempuan Indonesia (FJPI) once again organized a humanitarian initiative during Ramadan 1447 H, bringing smiles to dozens of orphaned children in Medan.

Through the social program "Ramadan Berbagi Bersama (RBB)", the organization distributed food packages and financial assistance to children in need. The activity took place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Cafe Serayu & Space on Jalan Sei Serayu, Medan.

The annual Ramadan program is part of FJPI's ongoing commitment to strengthening solidarity and compassion for vulnerable communities.

Spreading Kindness During Ramadan

Chairwoman of FJPI North Sumatra, Khairunnisak Lubis, said the event carried the theme "Tebarkan Kebaikan, Tularkan Virus Bahagia" (Spread Kindness, Spread the Virus of Happiness).

According to her, the theme serves as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can bring great happiness to others.

"This theme reminds us that the joy we share will return to us many times over. Let us use this moment to strengthen social bonds and deepen our solidarity," she said.

Khairunnisak, who is often called Nisa, emphasized that everyone has an important role in building a more caring society. She also expressed appreciation to all supporters and partners who contributed to the success of the event.

"We hope this activity brings happiness to the orphaned children and becomes a lasting act of charity for all of us. May Allah accept our good deeds and bless us during Ramadan," she added.

Food Packages and Cash Assistance

Head of the organizing committee for the FJPI Sumut Berbagi program, Agustina, explained that the initiative also reflects the value of generosity as mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 261, which compares charity to a seed that grows into seven ears, each containing a hundred grains.

"This means that a good deed planted today can grow into hundreds or even thousands of other good deeds in the future. That is why we thank all donors and supporters who have become part of this act of kindness," she said.

She noted that while such charity efforts may seem simple to some, they carry deep meaning for orphaned children, reminding them that they are not alone.

"Often, the greatest happiness does not come from what we have, but from what we give," she added.

In the first phase of the program, FJPI North Sumatra distributed 30 aid packages to orphaned children in the Medan Amplas area and surrounding neighborhoods.

Each package contained basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, and snacks for the children. In addition, each child received Eid holiday allowance (THR) of Rp120,000, with the total value of each aid package reaching approximately Rp250,000.
