JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM - The Indonesian Wakaf Board (Badan Wakaf Indonesia/BWI) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the clarification of the status of Blang Padang wakaf land in Aceh. The commitment was conveyed during a meeting with Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, representatives from the Aceh provincial government, and Islamic scholars from Aceh at the BWI headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
The meeting was held in a warm and family-oriented atmosphere. The gathering continued the communication that had previously been established between BWI and the Aceh Deputy Governor. In addition to strengthening institutional relations, the meeting also served as a dialogue forum to discuss strategic steps toward clarifying the status of Blang Padang Square as wakaf land belonging to the Great Baiturrahman Mosque.The Aceh government delegation was directly led by Deputy Governor Fadhlullah. He was accompanied by the First Assistant to the Aceh Provincial Secretary, the Grand Imam of the Baiturrahman Mosque Abu Paya Pasi, and several Islamic scholars from Aceh. BWI Deputy Chairman Dr. Tatang Astarudin, together with his team, welcomed the delegation at the organization's headquarters.

According to Tatang, BWI is prepared to take a mediating role in facilitating communication with relevant ministries and institutions. This step aims to ensure that the administrative process is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations while also respecting the interests of all parties involved.
"From legal, philosophical, and theological perspectives, we all agree that this is wakaf land. Its position is very strong. Our shared responsibility now is to coordinate the administrative processes between institutions, respect the existing procedures, and maintain the dignity of all parties involved so that the best solution can be achieved without anyone feeling disadvantaged," Tatang said.He added that BWI would submit all documents presented during the meeting to an internal plenary session. Following the internal review, BWI will also send official letters to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to further advance the clarification process regarding the status of Blang Padang wakaf land.
Aceh Deputy Governor, Fadhlullah, expressed his appreciation for BWI's attention and commitment in supporting the resolution of the Blang Padang wakaf land issue. He stated that the Aceh government respects all ongoing procedures and supports every resolution mechanism that complies with legal provisions.
According to Fadhlullah, resolving this matter is not only related to administrative aspects but also involves historical values, public interests, and respect for various parties with legitimate interests.The Aceh provincial government will continue to accompany the resolution process constructively by upholding legal principles and protecting the values associated with the importance of Blang Padang as a significant part of Aceh's historical development.

Blang Padang land holds significant historical value for the people of Aceh as it is closely connected with the Great Baiturrahman Mosque and the historical development of the region.
