MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Medan Area Police have intensified efforts to maintain public order and safety by introducing a new community-based security initiative in Kelurahan Denai, Medan Denai District. The program, titled "BANG JAGA" (Build Security, Protect Residents), is designed to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement and local communities in ensuring a safe and stable environment.
Held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the
Kelurahan Denai office on Jalan Jermal I, the launch marked a strategic step in reinforcing collaborative security management across the area.
Strengthening Police–Community Cooperation
The event was led directly by
Medan Area Police Chief AKP Muhammad Ainul Yaqin, accompanied by Deputy Chief AKP I Sembiring, Community Guidance Unit Officer Aiptu Hafrina Lubis, Intelligence Unit Chief Ipda Samuel Nasution, and Public Relations Officer Aiptu Junaidi. From the local administration, Lurah Denai Irwansyah, staff members, PKK representatives, and neighborhood unit leaders were also in attendance.
In his remarks, AKP Muhammad Ainul Yaqin emphasized that the program forms part of broader efforts to strengthen public security and order within the Medan Area jurisdiction.
"This program is aimed at introducing 'BANG JAGA' across all areas under the Medan Area Police," he stated.
Neighborhood Heads as Early Warning System
The initiative highlights the crucial role of neighborhood heads (Kepling) as the frontline in community-based security monitoring.
Kelurahan Denai, which consists of nine neighborhood units, is expected to actively report local security conditions through its Kepling network.
According to the police chief, consistent and transparent communication between Kepling and the police will help detect potential disturbances early and enable faster response measures.
"The goal is for Kepling to work closely with the
Medan Area Police to ensure a safe, comfortable, and stable security environment," he added.
Community Involvement in Crime Prevention
AKP Muhammad Ainul Yaqin also stressed that maintaining security is not the sole responsibility of the police but requires active participation from the public.
He encouraged residents to install CCTV cameras at strategic points as a preventive measure against crime and to support investigations when incidents occur.
"If any suspicious or criminal activity is observed, we urge the public to immediately contact the Medan Area Police or the emergency hotline 110," he said.
Collective Commitment to Public Safety
The "BANG JAGA" program represents a concrete collaboration between the police, local government, and residents in building a safer and more secure environment. It is also expected to enhance cross-sector coordination in addressing urban security challenges, particularly in densely populated areas such as Medan Denai.
