Lembah Anai and Malalak Routes Fully Reopened After HKI Restoration Efforts

SUMATERA BARAT | INDATANEWS.COM - Public mobility in Sumatera Barat has returned to smoother conditions after PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) completed disaster recovery efforts in the Lembah Anai and Malalak areas. The two strategic transportation routes, which were previously disrupted by landslides and flooding, are now accessible and can once again be used by the public.

The Lembah Anai route was officially reopened for all types of vehicles on Monday, July 27, 2026. Meanwhile, the Malalak route had already resumed operations since March 2026. The reopening of both routes marks an important step in restoring regional connectivity while supporting social and economic activities across Sumatera Barat.

HKI Restores Critical Transportation Access in Sumatera Barat

HKI Corporate Secretary Resnu Aditya Wuladarman said the completion of disaster recovery works in Lembah Anai and Malalak reflects the company's commitment to supporting the restoration of infrastructure and public mobility following the disaster.

"HKI has successfully completed disaster recovery works in Lembah Anai and Malalak in accordance with established standards, allowing both routes to be used again by the public. The restoration of these access points is highly significant because Lembah Anai and Malalak are important transportation corridors that support community mobility and logistics distribution in Sumatera Barat," Resnu said.

As part of the recovery process, HKI handled several damaged sections affected by landslides and flooding in the Lembah Anai and Malalak areas. All restoration activities were carried out by applying quality standards and occupational safety requirements.

The challenging geographical conditions, including difficult terrain and high-risk areas, became a major challenge throughout the rehabilitation process. HKI adjusted its work methods to suit the conditions at each location, ensuring the restoration could be completed effectively without compromising safety aspects.

Collaboration Accelerates Post-Disaster Infrastructure Recovery

The implementation of the restoration works was also supported by various parties, including the Ministry of Public Works, PT Hutama Karya (Persero), and other relevant stakeholders.

Strong coordination between the central government, regional administrations, companies, and communities in affected areas helped accelerate the restoration of transportation connectivity. Support from multiple parties became a key factor in ensuring the smooth progress of the work from the preparation stage through completion.

With the reopening of the Lembah Anai and Malalak routes, communities can once again utilize these transportation links for various purposes, including private travel, public transportation, and the movement of goods and logistics.

The restoration of these routes is expected to bring positive impacts to the regional economy, particularly for communities that were previously affected by limited transportation access.

Although both transportation routes have been reopened, road users are still advised to remain vigilant when traveling through the areas. The public is encouraged to follow traffic signs and applicable regulations while adjusting vehicle speeds according to road conditions.

HKI also reminded freight vehicle operators to comply with regulations regarding vehicle dimensions and load capacity. This measure is essential to ensure the safety of all road users and maintain the long-term reliability of the infrastructure.

Resnu stated that the disaster recovery efforts on the Lembah Anai and Malalak routes also support the national development agenda.

"The disaster recovery efforts on the Lembah Anai and Malalak routes are in line with President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita agenda, particularly in strengthening connectivity, encouraging equitable development, and supporting regional economic growth. HKI hopes that the reopening of these routes will improve public mobility, facilitate the distribution of goods and logistics, and contribute to the recovery of social and economic activities for communities in Sumatera Barat," Resnu concluded.
