LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - A total of 111.3 tons of rice supplied by Indonesia's state-owned food agency Bulog has been distributed to 3,710 beneficiary families in Sungai Kanan District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, North Sumatra Province. Officers from the Sungai Kanan Police monitored the distribution directly at the locations to maintain public order and security and ensure that the government assistance reached the designated recipients in accordance with the registered beneficiary data.
The distribution of food assistance for the July to September 2026 period took place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at several distribution points across Sungai Kanan District. The distribution locations included Langgapayung Urban Village, Huta Godang Village, and Sabungan Village.The government provided a total of 111,300 kilograms, or 111.3 tons, of rice. Each beneficiary family received 30 kilograms of rice, distributed in three 10-kilogram sacks.
Officers from the Sungai Kanan Police monitored the distribution directly at each location. Sungai Kanan Police Chief IPTU Apri Sudiarno Damanik, S.H., M.H., together with his personnel, monitored the distribution at the Sungai Kanan Subdistrict Head's Office, the Huta Godang Village Office, and the Sabungan Village Office.Police involvement was part of the security measures for an activity involving several thousand beneficiaries. The presence of officers at the distribution points helped coordinate the collection process so that residents could receive the assistance in an orderly manner.
Based on the distribution data, Langgapayung Urban Village received 38,190 kilograms, or 3,819 sacks, of rice. The allocation was intended for 1,273 beneficiary families.Meanwhile, Huta Godang Village received 27,930 kilograms, or 2,793 sacks, of rice for 931 families. Sabungan Village received an allocation of 45,180 kilograms, or 4,518 sacks, of rice for 1,506 families.
The three areas therefore received a combined total of 111,300 kilograms of rice to meet the food needs of 3,710 beneficiary families.
When collecting the food assistance, each beneficiary was required to present an Indonesian identity card, known as a KTP, and a family card, or KK, to the designated officers. The document checks served as a verification step to match residents' identities with the registered beneficiary data.
The verification process also helped ensure that the assistance reached the intended recipients. Before handing over the rice, the responsible officers could compare the identification documents presented by beneficiaries with the official recipient records.Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through Sungai Kanan Police Chief IPTU Apri Sudiarno Damanik, said that police involvement in the distribution was part of efforts to maintain security and public order throughout the food assistance process.
"Monitoring was conducted to ensure that the food assistance distribution process proceeded in an orderly, safe and compliant manner. We also urge beneficiary residents to follow the established procedures and bring the required documents when collecting the assistance," IPTU Apri Sudiarno Damanik said.He also reminded beneficiaries to follow the instructions of the officers responsible for the distribution. Having all the required documents was important to ensure that the verification process could proceed smoothly.
For beneficiary families, the 30 kilograms of rice provide an additional food reserve for their households. The assistance can help meet families' daily food needs during the designated distribution period.
Ensuring a smooth distribution process is therefore an important component of the food assistance program.
