LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Less than 48 hours after a resident's motorcycle was stolen from the terrace of her house, investigators from the Silangkitang Police Precinct arrested a 32-year-old man identified by the initials AGH, also known as Gunawan. The arrest was carried out on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026, in the Panai Hulu area of Labuhanbatu Regency.
Police officers arrested AGH at around 8:30 p.m. at a house in Sungai Pinang Hamlet, Teluk Sentosa Village, Panai Hulu District. During the operation, officers also seized a Suzuki Smash motorcycle believed to belong to the victim.The arrest followed further investigations after the Silangkitang Police Precinct received a report concerning a motorcycle theft within its jurisdiction. Investigators examined witness statements and followed leads obtained during their field investigation. The information eventually led officers to the suspect outside Silangkitang District.
The theft occurred on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at around 7:00 a.m. in Ujung Padang "A" Hamlet, Ulumahuam Village, Silangkitang District.
At the time, the victim, 32-year-old Sulastri, heard a sound suggesting that a motorcycle was being moved from the terrace of her house. Suspecting something was wrong, she went outside to check on the vehicle. However, when she reached the terrace, she discovered that her black Suzuki Smash motorcycle with blue decorative stripes and license plate BK 2165 YAD was gone.Sulastri then realized that her motorcycle had been taken. According to her report, the incident caused an estimated material loss of around Rp4.5 million.
The victim subsequently reported the theft to the police. Officers from the Silangkitang Police Precinct's Criminal Investigation Unit immediately launched an investigation to determine the whereabouts of the suspected perpetrator and the stolen motorcycle.Investigators gathered information from several witnesses and followed leads based on findings obtained during their field investigation. The search eventually led officers to Panai Hulu District in Labuhanbatu Regency.
The investigation eventually produced results. Officers located AGH on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026, at a house in Sungai Pinang Hamlet.
AGH was taken into custody by the officers. At the same time, investigators continued searching for the motorcycle believed to have been stolen. At the scene, they seized a Suzuki Smash motorcycle belonging to the victim, which is believed to be connected to the reported theft.AGH and the seized motorcycle were subsequently taken to the Silangkitang Police Precinct for further legal proceedings. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the theft and the connection between the seized evidence and the case being handled.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., confirmed the arrest through Silangkitang Police Chief AKP Rijaldi, S.Psi., S.A.P., M.H."Pelaku beserta barang bukti telah diamankan di Polsek Silangkitang untuk menjalani proses hukum lebih lanjut," AKP Rijaldi said on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Silangkitang Police Precinct.
