LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - A traffic accident involving a delivery van occurred on Sunday morning, September 27, 2026, in the PTPN IV Sisumut plantation area, Kampung Rakyat District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The delivery van crashed into a tree, temporarily blocking part of the Jalan Lintas Sumatera (Jalinsum) roadway and disrupting traffic flow.
Officers from the Traffic Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police (Sat Lantas Polres Labuhanbatu Selatan), along with personnel from the standby team and Piket 90, immediately went to the scene after receiving the accident report. At around 6:00 a.m. local time, officers secured the area and regulated vehicle traffic in both directions.The accident affected not only the vehicle involved but also the flow of traffic for residents traveling along Jalinsum Sisumut. As the delivery van was partially positioned on the roadway, officers secured the area and directed traffic to prevent longer queues from forming.
Upon arriving at the scene, traffic police officers immediately secured the area around the accident site. During the recovery process, they regulated passing vehicles and ensured that the damaged delivery van could be removed safely.
The accident vehicle was subsequently moved to the roadside, allowing the roadway to be used again by other motorists. Traffic gradually returned to normal, and vehicles traveling in both directions were once again able to pass safely, orderly, and smoothly.Weather conditions at the scene were reported to be sunny. Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through Traffic Unit Chief AKP Yustina, S.H., M.H., said the presence of officers at the scene was part of police efforts to ensure public safety. At the same time, officers worked to address the traffic disruption as quickly as possible so that it would not develop into a larger problem.
"Every traffic obstruction must be handled immediately so that it does not develop into a prolonged traffic jam or endanger other road users. We urge everyone to continue obeying traffic regulations, wear helmets, and make safety a top priority," AKP Yustina said.According to her, road users' awareness is particularly important when traveling on busy roads and through plantation areas. Since the route is used by different types of vehicles, both motorists and motorcycle riders need to adjust their speed and pay close attention to the surrounding traffic conditions.
Police also reminded road users not to underestimate traffic regulations. Wearing a helmet, remaining alert while driving, and complying with traffic signs and applicable regulations are important elements of accident prevention.
