LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government continues its social commitment to supporting low-income communities. In collaboration with the Labuhanbatu Selatan Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK) and the Labuhanbatu Selatan National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), a total of 30 food packages were distributed to people in need, widows, elderly residents and socially disadvantaged families on Monday, September 28, 2026, in Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District.
The distribution of the aid packages was held as part of a working visit by the Chairperson of the Posyandu Development Committee, the Chairperson of TP PKK, the Early Childhood Education Ambassador and the Literacy Ambassador of Labuhanbatu Selatan. The event took place at the YP Pendidikan Methodist educational institution in Aek Batu Village. It also provided an opportunity to strengthen attention toward residents who require social assistance at the community level.Each food package was valued at Rp300,000. The assistance is intended to help recipients meet part of their daily basic needs while reducing the financial burden on families with limited economic resources.
The Chairperson of TP PKK Labuhanbatu Selatan, Mrs. Indah Fery Simatupang, said the distribution of food packages was a concrete result of cooperation between TP PKK and BAZNAS Labuhanbatu Selatan. She said the partnership allows funds collected through zakat to directly benefit people who need assistance.
"The distribution of food packages to people in need, widows, elderly residents and socially disadvantaged families in Torgamba District, Aek Batu Village, is being carried out in cooperation with BAZNAS Labuhanbatu Selatan," said Indah Fery Simatupang.She also appreciated the cooperation with BAZNAS Labuhanbatu Selatan in distributing assistance to the community. According to her, the synergy is an important part of providing social assistance whose benefits can be directly felt by recipients.
"We greatly appreciate the cooperation in the distribution carried out in Torgamba District, Aek Batu Village. This is a very good partnership," she said.Indah expressed hope that the cooperation could continue to expand so that zakat collection through BAZNAS Labuhanbatu Selatan could become even more effective in the future. As zakat collections increase, she said, the number of people benefiting from the programs is also expected to grow.
"We hope that zakat collection through BAZNAS of Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency will continue to increase in the future," she said.During the event, BAZNAS Labuhanbatu Selatan distributed 30 food packages to 30 recipients. The recipients were among the program's target groups, including people in need, widows, elderly residents and socially disadvantaged families.
The assistance is intended to help recipients reduce part of their financial burden. Although the value of each package is limited, the support represents a concrete expression of collective solidarity with people in need.

Funds collected through zakat can directly benefit groups of people who require special attention.
