LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Torgamba Police Sector (Unit Reskrim Polsek Torgamba) has arrested a 26-year-old man identified by the initials ZAS, also known as Ali. Police seized three transparent plastic sachets containing a crystalline substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine. The substance had a gross weight of 1.7 grams. The arrest took place at an abandoned building in Dusun Teluk Pinang, Asam Jawa Village, Torgamba District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
The arrest followed information received from members of the public. According to the report, the abandoned building in the area had allegedly been repeatedly used as a location for suspected drug abuse. Police subsequently used the information as the basis for launching an investigation at the location.Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, S.H., said he had immediately instructed criminal investigators to verify the information received from the public.
Officers eventually arrested ZAS, also known as Ali, on Thursday, September 25, 2026, at around 3:50 p.m. local time. The suspect is a resident of Lingkungan Kampung Malim, Kotapinang Subdistrict, Kotapinang District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.The team then went to the abandoned building reported by local residents. Officers monitored the location before eventually finding a man inside the building.
The officers subsequently detained ZAS, also known as Ali, for further examination. During the search, police found three transparent plastic sachets containing a crystalline substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine.The substance was found inside a Surya cigarette pack. Officers also found yellow adhesive tape wrapped around the cigarette pack.
The items were secured as evidence in connection with the alleged violation of Indonesia's narcotics laws.
The main evidence documented by officers consisted of three transparent plastic sachets containing a crystalline substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine. The gross weight was recorded at 1.7 grams. Police also seized a Surya cigarette pack and a piece of yellow adhesive tape.
To ensure that the seizure was properly conducted, the investigation team invited the head of Dusun Teluk Pinang to act as a witness. He observed the seizure of ZAS, also known as Ali, as well as the items found by the officers."During the seizure, officers found the suspected crystal methamphetamine inside a Surya cigarette pack wrapped with yellow adhesive tape. Following the seizure of the suspect and evidence, officers brought ZAS, also known as Ali, to the Torgamba Police Sector headquarters. The seized substance is currently still classified as a suspected narcotic and will undergo further examination as part of the investigation.
The Torgamba Police Chief urged residents not to ignore suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. Information can be submitted through official police channels so officers can verify the reports and, when necessary, take appropriate action in accordance with established procedures.
"We urge the public to continue communicating with the police and to report through the 110 emergency number or the nearest police station if they observe activities suspected of being connected to drug abuse or illegal drug trafficking," AKP Sunipan Gurusinga said.Police emphasized that every report from the public must first be checked and verified through investigation. Legal action against individuals suspected of involvement still requires sufficient facts and evidence.
