PROFESSIONAL AND INDEPENDENT PROCESS: Muhamad Suib, Assistant for General Administration at the North Sumatra Provincial Secretariat, emphasizes the governor’s directive that the KIP selection committee for 2026–2030 must work professionally and without external interference.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The selection process for members of the North Sumatra Information Commission (KIP) for the 2026–2030 term has entered the interview stage, with Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution emphasizing the importance of objectivity, professionalism, and the absence of external interference.

The governor's directive was conveyed by Muhamad Suib, Assistant for General Administration at the North Sumatra Provincial Secretariat, who also serves as a member of the selection committee. The statement was delivered at the North Sumatra Communication and Information Agency office on Jalan HM Said, Medan, on Wednesday (June 17, 2026).

Suib said the governor has consistently instructed the selection committee to ensure a transparent process that produces credible and trustworthy KIP commissioners.

"The governor's instruction is clear: the entire process must be carried out diligently, strictly, and without any form of interference," Suib stated.

Integrity and Competence Under Scrutiny

According to Suib, the selection process does not only assess academic qualifications, but also integrity, moral character, national awareness, and commitment. These elements are considered essential in determining candidates for strategic positions within the commission.

Comprehensive Interview Assessment Underway

During the interview stage, candidates are evaluated on their motivation, vision and mission, professional background, as well as their understanding of governance and civic education.

"The participants are thoroughly examined regarding their motivation, vision, integrity, track record, and their perspective on governance and national values," Suib added.

40 Candidates Compete for Final Selection

A total of 40 candidates are currently taking part in the interview stage. Previously, they had undergone computer-based testing (CAT) and psychological assessments. The combined results of all stages will be used to determine the top 15 candidates.

Selection committee chair Hatta Ridho explained that the evaluation process is comprehensive and integrated.

"The results of the interviews will be combined with the CAT and psychological test scores for final assessment," he said.

DPRD to Decide Final Outcome

The list of the 15 best candidates is scheduled to be announced on June 22, 2026. They will then be required to prepare a work paper outlining their vision, mission, and programs to be presented before the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).

Hatta Ridho emphasized that the final decision no longer rests with the selection committee or the governor, but fully with the DPRD, which will conduct a fit-and-proper test to determine the final five candidates.

"The presentation will not be held before us or the governor, but before the DPRD, which will make the final selection from 15 to 5 candidates," he explained. (IDNC)
