MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM – North Sumatra Governor, Bobby Nasution, has pledged full support for the 42nd National Children's Day (HAN) 2026 celebrations, which are scheduled to take place in July 2026 in Medan City and Samosir Regency. The North Sumatra branch of the Indonesian Pediatric Society (IDAI) has been appointed to host the national event.
According to Bobby Nasution, North Sumatra's selection as the host of a national-scale event is a significant achievement for the province. In addition to enhancing the region's profile, the event is expected to generate positive economic impacts through the arrival of participants from across Indonesia."Although the activities will be held at the city and regency levels, this is a national event. Therefore, we warmly welcome and fully support it. Anything that falls under the authority of the provincial government will be facilitated to the best of our ability," Bobby Nasution said during a meeting with the leadership of IDAI North Sumatra at his office on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
The meeting was attended by IDAI North Sumatra Chairman Rizky Adriansyah and other board members. The governor was accompanied by Haji Hospital Medan Director Yulinda Elvi Nasution, Head of the North Sumatra Health Office Faisal Hasrimy, and several provincial officials.
Appreciation for IDAI's Disaster Response Efforts
During the meeting, Bobby Nasution also expressed appreciation for IDAI North Sumatra's contribution in assisting victims of the major disasters that struck the province in late November 2025. He emphasized the vital role pediatricians play in ensuring children receive proper medical care during emergency situations.The governor said he had personally witnessed the dedication shown by pediatricians during disaster response operations. For that reason, he extended his gratitude to all medical personnel involved, particularly IDAI North Sumatra.
"I personally saw how committed our pediatricians were during the disaster response efforts. For that, I would like to express my sincere appreciation. I also hope to attend the National Children's Day celebration in Samosir and introduce our guests to the region's tourism attractions," he said.
National Seminar and Free Health Services
IDAI North Sumatra Chairman Rizky Adriansyah welcomed the provincial government's support, particularly the governor's willingness to attend the main event on July 25, 2026, at the Pangururan Waterfront area in Samosir Regency.Rizky explained that the National Children's Day celebration will bring together pediatricians from across Indonesia. In addition, IDAI North Sumatra will organize a national scientific seminar in Medan from July 22 to July 24, 2026.
Alongside the academic programs, the organization plans to provide free health services for approximately 400 to 500 children. The services will include general health screenings, stunting detection, and examinations for various childhood diseases.Direct Benefits for Children and Families
According to Rizky, the presence of hundreds of pediatricians from different regions of Indonesia is expected to deliver direct benefits to communities in North Sumatra. The initiative aims to strengthen child health awareness and improve access to healthcare services."Pediatricians from all over Indonesia will participate in this event. Therefore, we hope the governor will attend the main celebration on July 25, 2026, in Samosir. In addition to the seminar in Medan, we will provide free health screenings for children, including stunting checks and examinations for various illnesses.
