BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM-The prolonged clean water crisis in Batu Ampar District, Batam City, Riau Islands Province, has now entered its third month. The situation continues to heavily affect residents in Tanjung Sengkuang and Batu Merah, disrupting daily life and essential household activities. In response, the local police have stepped in to assist the distribution of clean water directly to affected communities.
For the past three months, residents have been struggling with limited access to clean water, impacting basic needs such as cooking, drinking, and sanitation. The prolonged shortage has placed significant pressure on households across the affected areas.
Police Coordinate Large-Scale Water Distribution
The Batu Ampar Police Station launched a direct intervention by deploying personnel to escort and secure water distribution efforts. The operation was led by Police Commissioner Kompol Amru Abdullah, with support from Ipda Agustinus Manulang, duty officers, and local Bhabinkamtibmas units from Tanjung Sengkuang and Batu Merah.Distribution began early in the morning and was carried out systematically across several neighborhood units (RW). In Tanjung Sengkuang, a total of 122 water tank units were delivered across RW 01, 02, 04, 05, 08, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 17. Meanwhile, Batu Merah received 38 water tank units covering RW 01, 03, 04, 06, 07, and 08.
Authorities coordinated closely with local officials to ensure orderly and fair distribution to residents in need.

The Batu Ampar Police emphasized that their involvement extends beyond traditional security duties, highlighting their commitment to humanitarian assistance during community crises. The entire operation proceeded smoothly and without incidents, providing much-needed relief to residents affected by the ongoing water shortage.Residents expressed gratitude for the assistance, which helped ease daily hardships caused by the prolonged crisis.
