BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government has been named first place at the regency level in the Implementation of the Three Million Homes Program category at the "Apresiasi Pemerintah Daerah Berprestasi 2026 Batch 2 Regional Sumatera" awards. The award was presented by Indonesia's Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) at an event in Batam, Riau Islands, on Wednesday evening, August 12, 2026.
The award recognizes the Deli Serdang Regency Government's commitment to accelerating the provision of adequate housing for residents through the Three Million Homes Program.Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He said the award was the result of joint efforts by various stakeholders in supporting efforts to meet the housing needs of the community.
"Alhamdulillah, Deli Serdang Regency has received the First Place award from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) at the regency level in the Implementation of the Three Million Homes Program category," he said.Asri Ludin Tambunan said the award and assistance would provide additional motivation for the regional government to further strengthen its efforts to provide adequate housing. According to him, the recognition not only reflects the regional government's success in implementing the program but also carries the responsibility to continue efforts to meet the community's basic needs.
"This award is recognition of the commitment and hard work of all parties in supporting the provision of adequate housing for the community. For us, this award is not merely an honor, but also a mandate and motivation to further strengthen our efforts to provide the people of North Sumatra with adequate, safe and affordable housing," he said.The Deli Serdang Regency Government continues to take various measures to support the implementation of the Three Million Homes Program. These include accelerating permit procedures, waiving building permit approval fees (Persetujuan Bangunan Gedung/PBG) for low-income communities in accordance with applicable regulations, and providing land to support housing development.
These measures form part of the regional government's strategy to expand public access to housing that meets adequate living standards. Accelerating permit procedures is also expected to make it easier for residents and relevant parties to develop housing projects.
The Deli Serdang Regent emphasized that meeting housing needs plays an important role in improving people's quality of life. In his view, a house is not merely a building for shelter, but also a place where families can live safely and comfortably.
"I am convinced that every family has the right to a home that provides comfort and security and serves as a foundation for a more prosperous life," he stressed.The Deli Serdang Regency Government views the provision of adequate housing as part of its efforts to improve public welfare. The availability of safe and affordable housing can have a positive impact on family quality of life, particularly for people who still live in homes whose conditions do not yet meet adequate housing standards.
Through the Three Million Homes Program, the regional government is seeking to strengthen cooperation with the central government and various stakeholders. The support covers both the construction of new homes and the improvement of houses classified as uninhabitable.
Kemendagri's support for the renovation of 300 uninhabitable houses (RTLH) provides additional assistance to Deli Serdang in improving the community's housing conditions. The regional government is expected to implement the program optimally so that the assistance directly reaches families in need.
House renovation efforts are also an important part of addressing the problem of inadequate housing.
