DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – A heavy rainstorm accompanied by strong winds struck Dusun V in Sambirejo Timur, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, on Wednesday evening, June 3, 2026. Around 8:30 p.m. local time, the extreme weather developed into a tornado that severely damaged the house of Ismail, a local resident.
Following the initial report from the head of Dusun V, Danang Agustian, the Head of Sambirejo Timur Village, Muhammad Arifin, immediately took action. He coordinated emergency response efforts with the Head of Percut Sei Tuan District, Muhammad Kennedy Tarigan, S.IP., M.Si., to ensure a swift and organized intervention.
The coordinated response led to the deployment of a joint team to the affected area to assess the situation and provide immediate assistance to the impacted family.

Joint Emergency Teams Deployed to Disaster Site
At the location, the response team included Babinsa Serma Adi Sugianto, Bhabinkamtibmas Aiptu Suwandi, personnel from the Deli Serdang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and local community representatives. The team conducted a direct assessment of the damage and delivered emergency aid, including rice supplies and financial assistance to Ismail's family.
The aid distribution was marked by emotional moments as the family received support amid their difficult situation.

Damage Assessment and Public Alert
After the weather conditions improved, the village administration carried out a comprehensive damage assessment. Coordination was conducted through 11 sub-village heads, supported by the village government's WhatsApp group, enabling rapid field data collection.
The assessment, completed at 00:03 a.m. on June 4, 2026, confirmed that only one house was affected by the tornado. Despite the limited damage, Arifin urged residents to remain vigilant against extreme weather conditions.
He also emphasized the importance of solidarity, communal prayer, and close cooperation between residents and the village administration, noting that mutual support plays a vital role in facing unexpected disasters. (IDNC)
