YOGYAKARTA | INDATANEWS.OCOM – The Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government, M. Nasir, attended the 2026 National Deliberation (Munas) of the Indonesian Fencing Association (Pengurus Besar Ikatan Anggar Seluruh Indonesia / PB IKASI), held at the Swiss-Belboutique Hotel in Yogyakarta. His presence not only represented the Government of Aceh, but also underscored his role as First Deputy Chairman of PB IKASI, where he plays a strategic position within Indonesia's national fencing governing body.
The highest decision-making forum in Indonesian fencing served as a key platform to determine the future direction of sports policy and organizational development. Representatives from the central board, regional associations, and various sports stakeholders gathered to evaluate programs and strengthen the foundation of athlete development across the country.
The Munas PB IKASI 2026 was not merely an administrative meeting, but a strategic forum to comprehensively assess ongoing programs. Key priorities included youth development, coach certification, and the expansion of sports infrastructure across regions.
Participants also emphasized the importance of regional competitions as a cornerstone of the national talent pipeline. Consistent competitive exposure, they noted, is essential to producing athletes capable of competing at the international level.

He also underlined the importance of strengthening regional cooperation to ensure a unified development system across Indonesia's fencing ecosystem.
His re-election is widely viewed as a sign of institutional continuity and stability within Indonesia's fencing federation. Under his leadership, PB IKASI is expected to continue expanding its development programs and improving the competitiveness of Indonesian fencers on the international stage.
Delegates highlighted the decision as an important foundation for sustaining long-term programs and strengthening organizational governance.

Nasir reiterated that athlete development can only succeed through close collaboration between all levels of the federation. Coach and referee development were also identified as critical components in raising Indonesia's competitive standards.
He noted that strong organizational leadership is essential to ensuring continuity in training and development programs. A structured system, he added, enables regions to systematically nurture and develop athletes.
The congress is expected to strengthen collaboration between PB IKASI and regional associations, ensuring more balanced development across the country and broader access for young athletes to structured competition.
Close collaboration between the central board, regional bodies, and stakeholders is considered essential to strengthening Indonesia's international competitiveness and producing world-class athletes.
The meeting reinforced the view that sustainable sports development relies not only on technical progress, but also on strong organizational and institutional foundations. (IDNC)
