JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM The provincial government of Aceh is intensifying its push for economic expansion by actively courting international investors, with Russia emerging as one of its strategic partners. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting between Aceh Provincial Secretary M. Nasir and Mikhail Kuritsyn, representative of the Business Council of the Russian Federation, held at Keraton At The Plaza, Jalan MH Thamrin, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

The discussion marks a significant step in Aceh's broader strategy to strengthen global partnerships, particularly with countries possessing strong investment capabilities in energy, infrastructure, and sustainable development.

Strengthening Investment Climate and Economic Strategy

Nasir reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to building a stable, secure, and competitive investment climate. According to him, opening up to foreign investors is a key pillar of Aceh's long-term development agenda.

"This meeting is an important step in expanding cooperation. We discussed concrete approaches, with a strong emphasis on ensuring that every investment contributes directly to improving the people's economic conditions," Nasir said after the meeting.

He also highlighted Aceh's vast untapped potential in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, maritime economy, agriculture, and tourism, all of which require significant capital inflows for sustainable development.

This approach reflects Aceh's commitment to aligning economic growth with strengthening local expertise and workforce development.

Russia Sees Strategic Opportunities in Aceh

Mikhail Kuritsyn expressed optimism over the discussions and praised Aceh's openness to international cooperation. He described the region as strategically positioned with strong economic potential.

Kuritsyn noted that the Russian side is open to exploring various cooperation models that can benefit both parties, with initial discussions expected to evolve into concrete investment projects.

From Russia's perspective, Aceh presents attractive opportunities, particularly in energy development, infrastructure expansion, and long-term strategic economic projects.
