PSMS Medan Gears Up for 2026 President's Cup Participation

PSMS MEDAN READY FOR THE 2026 PRESIDENT’S CUP: PSMS Medan COO Samuel P. Nababan confirms the team’s readiness for the 2026 President’s Cup while awaiting official confirmation from PSSI.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM – PSMS Medan has officially confirmed its readiness to take part in the Piala Presiden 2026, scheduled to take place from June 28 to July 11, 2026. The club, nicknamed Ayam Kinantan, is immediately moving forward with preparations and squad development ahead of the prestigious tournament.

PSMS Medan Chief Operating Officer (COO) Samuel P. Nababan stated on Monday (May 18, 2026) that the club had already received an official invitation from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) in April 2026 and has formally responded.

"We have already replied and are now waiting for confirmation from PSSI. Of course, we are very enthusiastic and hope to participate. We are ready to contribute and will begin preparations as soon as possible," Samuel said.

Tournament as a Season Preparation Test

Samuel emphasized that the 2026 President's Cup will play a crucial role as a preparatory tournament ahead of the 2026/2027 season. The competition will serve as an important benchmark for evaluating team performance.

"This can be part of our season preparation while also serving as an evaluation of the team. With many Liga 1 clubs participating, it will certainly have a positive impact on PSMS," he explained.

Squad Planning and Promotion Ambition

Regarding squad development, Samuel revealed that the club management will announce the official roster in the near future. He also opened the possibility for North Sumatra-born players currently playing for other clubs to return and strengthen PSMS.

"Please be patient; we will announce the squad soon. We also hope that players from Medan who are currently with other clubs can return to support PSMS. Our target is not only promotion to Liga 1 but also winning the title," he stressed.

Samuel further urged supporters and the people of North Sumatra to continue backing the club to ensure sustainable growth for PSMS Medan.
