Batam Prison Strengthens Humanity and Solidarity Through Eid al-Adha Sacrifice Program

EID AL-ADHA QURBAN PROGRAM: The slaughtering of five cows and three goats marked the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah celebration at Batam Prison as part of efforts to strengthen social care and inmates’ spiritual development.

BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM Batam Prison held a ceremonial animal sacrifice program to commemorate Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Carrying the theme "Strengthening the Spirit of Eid al-Adha to Preserve Nature and Humanity," the event reflected togetherness, compassion, and social solidarity within the correctional institution.

This year, the prison slaughtered five cows and three goats as part of the annual qurban program. The initiative highlighted social responsibility and collaboration among institutions in supporting inmate rehabilitation and spiritual development.

According to prison officials, two cows were donated by inmates, while one cow each came from Baznas Kota Batam, Inkopasindo, and the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition, Koperasi Sapalindo contributed two goats, while BRI donated one goat.

The slaughtering process was jointly carried out by the Eid al-Adha committee, correctional officers, and inmates in accordance with Islamic principles and strict hygiene standards. The meat was later distributed to inmates and underprivileged residents around the prison.

Head of Batam Prison, Yosfat Rizanto, expressed appreciation to all parties involved in supporting this year's qurban program. He said the spirit of Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder to uphold humanity, unity, and social compassion.

"The spirit of Eid al-Adha teaches sincerity, sacrifice, and social responsibility. These values are expected to strengthen solidarity and nurture humanity within the correctional environment," Yosfat said.
