BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Secretary of Aceh Province, M. Nasir, S.IP., MPA, received the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) enumeration team on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the official residence of the Aceh Governor's Secretary. The visit formed part of the comprehensive preparation and implementation of the 2026 Economic Census organized by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) to collect detailed data on all economic activities across the country.

Nasir was accompanied on the occasion by his wife, Malahayati M. Nasir, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Aceh Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP). The BPS enumeration team was directly welcomed by the provincial secretary, underscoring the full support of the Aceh Provincial Government in strengthening the national economic data foundation.

National Strategy for Economic Data

The 2026 Economic Census is a strategic national agenda conducted every ten years. Through this large-scale exercise, BPS collects comprehensive information on the structure and condition of Indonesia's economy, which will serve as a key reference for policy-making across various development sectors.

Support for High-Quality Data

Nasir reaffirmed the Aceh Provincial Government's unwavering support for the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census. He emphasized that the success of the census largely depends on public participation and the quality of the data collected.

In his view, accurate and high-quality data play a decisive role as the foundation for targeted development planning. Such data not only serve as a reference for policy decisions but also shape the future direction of regional economic development strategies.

"Accurate and high-quality data are an essential foundation for formulating targeted development measures, including efforts to drive economic growth, strengthen the business sector, and improve community welfare," Nasir stated.

Importance of Data-Based Economic Planning

Nasir further highlighted that the 2026 Economic Census plays a central role in building a data-driven planning system. The results of the census will serve as an important reference for economic policy decisions at both national and regional levels.

Appeal for Active Public Participation

He also noted that without valid data, it would be difficult for the government to design effective and needs-based policies. For this reason, he called on all segments of society to actively support the census implementation.

"Therefore, we fully support its implementation and hope that all citizens provide accurate information to the enumerators so that the resulting data is truly of high quality," Nasir said.

On this occasion, he also expressed appreciation to BPS field officers working across various regions to collect data directly. Their work, he said, is a decisive factor in ensuring the overall quality of the census.

Recognition for BPS Field Officers

Nasir particularly commended the dedication of enumerators working in geographically challenging areas. Their efforts are considered vital to ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the collected data.

He expressed hope that the 2026 Economic Census would be completed smoothly, in an orderly manner, and produce accurate and up-to-date data. The findings are expected to serve as a strong foundation for economic development planning in Aceh as well as at the national level.

The 2026 Economic Census is a comprehensive survey of all non-agricultural businesses conducted nationwide by BPS. Its results will serve as one of the most important foundations for evidence-based economic policy in Indonesia.

Ultimately, the 2026 Economic Census is expected not merely to function as a data collection exercise, but also as a key instrument in strengthening measurable, inclusive, and sustainable economic development. (IDNC)
