JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM - Electricity supply across North Sumatra and several other affected provinces has been fully stabilized following a widespread blackout that occurred on Friday and Saturday, Governor Bobby Afif Nasution confirmed.
He made the statement on Monday, May 25, 2026, in Jakarta after attending a coordination meeting with the state-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) regarding the restoration of the national power system."We coordinated with PLN today, everything is back to normal," Bobby said.

During the outage, the North Sumatra provincial government and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) maintained continuous communication to ensure essential public services remained operational.
Emergency measures were implemented, including the deployment of generators across several affected areas with support from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police."The mobile signal was also affected due to the power outage," Bobby noted.

Governor Bobby emphasized that critical public services, particularly hospitals and healthcare facilities, continued operating without disruption throughout the blackout.
"Basic services such as hospitals continued to run without interruption," he stated.The provincial administration is also assessing potential impacts on industrial operations, cold storage systems, and logistics infrastructure that may have been affected during the outage.
Government Apology and Ongoing MonitoringBobby issued an apology to residents for disruptions to daily life, including interruptions to mobile and internet connectivity.
He confirmed that coordination with PT PLN (Persero) and other relevant agencies will continue to ensure all follow-up actions are properly executed."Further steps will continue to be coordinated with PLN," he added. (IDNC)
