MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM North Sumatra Governor, Bobby Nasution, together with Deputy Governor Surya, received Asahan Regent Taufik Zainal Abidin Siregar at the North Sumatra Governor's Office in Medan on Monday (May 18, 2026). The meeting focused on accelerating infrastructure development in Asahan Regency, particularly road construction, education facilities, and maritime security in the coastal area.

Road Infrastructure Becomes Key Priority

Bobby Nasution reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to promptly reviewing development proposals submitted by the Asahan Regency administration. A technical team will first conduct field assessments before projects are implemented.

"We welcome all proposals from Asahan. The provincial government will immediately review and execute the road construction projects. The overall development plan will be coordinated to ensure proper execution," Bobby said.

He also emphasized the importance of on-site evaluations to ensure accurate planning and high-quality implementation. "We will conduct field checks first to understand the actual conditions. If possible, implementation could begin this year," he added.

Asahan Regent Taufik Zainal Abidin Siregar highlighted several priority projects, including the improvement of the Batu Pane road. The 2.5-kilometer road section is considered vital for local economic activity.

"This road is very important for the community. Its poor condition has significantly hampered economic activity in the area," Taufik explained.

The regency government is also pushing for the accelerated official opening of SMA Negeri Rahuning. The school is expected to soon begin accepting new students to expand access to education in the region.

According to Taufik, the establishment of the school is crucial to strengthening educational infrastructure and meeting community needs.

In addition, the meeting discussed the planned establishment of a monitoring post by the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) in the Malacca Strait region. The Asahan government supports the development of the facility to enhance maritime security.
