DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan is pushing for Pancur Batu to become the first district in Deli Serdang Regency to successfully eliminate tuberculosis (TB).
Asri Ludin made the call during his visit to an integrated free healthcare service organized by Pancur Batu Regional General Hospital (RSUD Pancur Batu) on Thursday, September 4, 2026, at Pancur Batu Town Square, Deli Serdang.The event provided residents with a range of free healthcare services, including TB screening and case follow-up, services for children with special needs (ABK), visual inspection with acetic acid (IVA) tests, blood donations, family planning (KB) services, the Family Learning Center (PUSPAGA), as well as dental and oral health education for school students.
Asri Ludin said accelerating TB elimination requires joint efforts and cannot be handled by healthcare facilities alone. In his view, both the regency government and village administrations have an important role in expanding early detection efforts and ensuring that people suspected of having TB receive prompt treatment."This is our joint effort to eliminate TB in Deli Serdang, particularly in Pancur Batu. I hope Pancur Batu will become the first district in Deli Serdang to successfully eliminate TB," he said.
To achieve this goal, Asri Ludin called on RSUD Pancur Batu and all community health centers to further intensify TB screening and case follow-up. This is important to ensure that people suspected of having TB can immediately undergo further examinations and receive treatment according to their health condition.
He said early detection is a crucial factor in breaking the chain of TB transmission within the community. Healthcare services therefore need to expand their reach, including in rural areas and at the level of individual settlements and villages.He also emphasized the importance of support from village administrations. They must help ensure that screening activities reach all segments of the population equally. Villages where TB screenings have already been conducted should continue providing public education to strengthen awareness of the importance of regular health checkups.
According to Asri Ludin, this approach is intended not only to detect cases at an early stage, but also to raise public awareness that health examinations are an important part of maintaining quality of life.During his visit, the Deli Serdang regent was accompanied by Deli Serdang Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo SS, Chairwoman of the Deli Serdang TP PKK Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan, and TP PKK Expert I Asniar Lom Lom Suwondo.
Asri Ludin expressed hope that strengthening healthcare services and disease early detection would help residents of Pancur Batu live healthier and more productive lives. In addition to accelerating TB elimination, Asri Ludin reminded residents of the importance of developing healthy habits from an early age.
In his view, the concept of a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) must become a regular part of children's daily lives. Schools have a strategic role in fostering discipline while educating students about health.He also highlighted the importance of dental and oral health. Such education needs to begin at an early age so that children learn to maintain their health independently and consistently.
Promoting healthy lifestyles from school age is expected to help establish positive habits that continue into adulthood. Improving public health, therefore, should not focus solely on treating people who are already ill, but also place a strong emphasis on prevention.On the occasion, Asri Ludin also inspected facilities and healthcare services at RSUD Pancur Batu. He spoke with patients and engaged with medical personnel providing services to the community.

RSUD Pancur Batu Director drg Dina Saraswaty said residents had shown strong interest in the healthcare services provided. The high turnout was reflected, among other things, in the TB screening and case follow-up services, where the number of participants had already exceeded the set target by midday.
RSUD Pancur Batu had previously set a target of at least 500 people participating in TB screening and case follow-up. That figure had already been surpassed even though the event was still underway at midday.The IVA test also recorded high participation. A total of 120 women of reproductive age underwent the examination, exceeding the initial target of 100 participants.
Other healthcare services also received a positive response. A total of 111 toddlers received medical care, while services for children with special needs (ABK) were accessed by 82 people.Dina said the results reflected the community's strong need for easily accessible healthcare services. The high turnout also demonstrated that an integrated and community-based healthcare approach was well received by residents.
According to her, events of this kind can help bring various healthcare services together in a single location. In addition to making access easier, integrated services allow residents to obtain information and medical examinations more quickly.The high participation in TB screening is particularly significant because the examinations can help identify people who may have the disease at an early stage. When cases are detected quickly, healthcare professionals can immediately initiate appropriate treatment based on the patient's condition.
The Deli Serdang government is expected to expand similar services through RSUD Pancur Batu and other healthcare facilities. Cooperation among the regional government, healthcare facilities, district and village administrations, and the community is an important factor in strengthening the early detection system.In particular, efforts to intensify TB screening and case follow-up must be accompanied by continuous public education.
