BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah has urged personnel at the One-Stop Administration System for Motor Vehicles (Samsat) offices across Aceh to lead by example in efforts to increase regional revenue. He called on officials to ensure that motor vehicles owned by residents domiciled in Aceh carry BL license plates, the identifying registration mark for vehicles registered in Aceh.
Fadhlullah also reminded Samsat personnel that this exemplary role should begin within their own circles. He called for vehicles belonging to Samsat employees in Aceh not to carry license plates from other regions.Fadhlullah made the remarks during an information session organized by the Aceh Government through the Aceh Financial Management Agency (BPKA) at The Pade Hotel in Lampeneurut, Aceh Besar, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Fadhlullah said optimizing regional revenue requires collective attention and commitment. In his view, the regional government must strengthen various sources of revenue, including motor vehicle tax.
He stressed that difficult and complicated administrative procedures should not continue to be used as a reason for the government to fail to fully tap existing revenue potential. He therefore called on relevant agencies to continuously seek measures that simplify administrative procedures while encouraging greater tax compliance among the public."In this republic, it is difficult administration that makes many things complicated. Make an effort to increase tax revenue for the region," Fadhlullah said.
According to Fadhlullah, increasing motor vehicle tax revenue depends not only on public awareness of their obligations. The government must also ensure that administrative systems and services function effectively so that residents do not encounter obstacles when processing vehicle documents or paying taxes. He urged Samsat personnel to keep track of the revenue potential of vehicles owned by Aceh residents that continue to carry license plates from other regions.

According to Fadhlullah, the use of BL license plates does not merely identify vehicles registered in Aceh. Compliance with this requirement is also linked to the government's efforts to ensure that motor vehicle tax obligations contribute to regional revenue.
Therefore, Fadhlullah called on Samsat to strengthen monitoring while educating the public about the importance of proper vehicle administration. He hopes Samsat personnel will not stop at making appeals, but instead lead by example by complying with the regulations within their own circles.Fadhlullah believes that officials' exemplary conduct is an important element in building public trust. If Samsat personnel themselves comply with vehicle administration regulations, it will be easier for the public to understand the importance of observing applicable rules.
He therefore also reminded officials that vehicles used by Samsat personnel in Aceh should not be equipped with license plates from other regions."It must not happen that Samsat employees' own vehicles in Aceh carry license plates from outside Aceh," he said.

In his view, improvements in administration must go hand in hand with efforts to increase tax compliance. The government must provide orderly and easy-to-understand services so that residents can fulfill their obligations without being confronted with unnecessary procedures.
In this context, Samsat plays a strategic role because the agency deals directly with the public in matters related to vehicle administration and motor vehicle tax payments. Samsat personnel also have an important role in educating the public about administrative obligations and the importance of tax compliance for the region.Fadhlullah hopes these measures will help the government optimize regional revenue while strengthening public service administration in Aceh.
The session at The Pade Hotel also discussed Aceh Governor Regulation No. 29 of 2023 concerning the value of surface water extraction. In addition, Aceh Governor Decree No. 900.1.13/1/658 of 2026 concerning the determination of the value of surface water extraction was also discussed. The Aceh Government organized the event through the BPKA with the participation of various government agencies from regencies and municipalities. Participants included representatives of financial management agencies from regencies and municipalities, Samsat UPTDs across Aceh, as well as inspectorates from regencies and municipalities.
Through the event, the Aceh Government aims not only to improve understanding of regulations related to regional revenue, but also to strengthen coordination among agencies. The initiative is part of efforts to improve regional revenue administration and ensure that every potential source of revenue can be utilized optimally. For Fadhlullah, increasing regional revenue requires a collective approach — from improving administration and services to strengthening public tax compliance and ensuring that officials lead by example. He called on Samsat personnel to play an active role in these efforts, including ensuring that vehicles used by residents and officials comply with administrative regulations governing vehicles in Aceh.
