MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The North Sumatra Provincial Government continues to accelerate the implementation of infrastructure projects in 2026. Several construction initiatives under the Fast Best Results Program (Program Hasil Terbaik Cepat/PHTC) and Regional Strategic Projects (Proyek Strategis Daerah/PSD) are currently being carried out across various regencies and cities throughout the province.
Based on the consolidated data on the 2026 physical construction activities of the North Sumatra Public Works Agency for Highways, Construction Development, and Spatial Planning (Dinas Bina Marga, Bina Konstruksi dan Cipta Karya/BMBKCK), a total of 41 projects had entered the physical progress stage as of July 10, 2026.Of the total number of projects, seven are categorized as Regional Strategic Projects (PSD), while the remaining initiatives are part of the Fast Best Results Program (PHTC). The North Sumatra Provincial Government continues to prioritize the acceleration of construction activities to ensure that all projects are completed in accordance with established targets.
"We continue to monitor the progress of development in North Sumatra. The implementation of infrastructure projects for 2026 is being accelerated continuously so that they proceed according to the planned targets, particularly on priority road sections across various regencies and cities," said Head of the North Sumatra BMBCK Agency, Chandra Dalimunthe, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Chandra explained that the ongoing construction activities cover various types of infrastructure development. These include structural improvements to provincial roads, construction of retaining walls, slope reinforcement structures, and gabions along provincial road sections, the opening and land filling of new road segments, rehabilitation of provincial roads, routine maintenance, road capacity improvements, and the construction of new bridges.
The implementation of these projects is spread across numerous regencies and cities in North Sumatra. Areas where construction activities are already underway include Padang Lawas Utara, Asahan, Batubara, Gunungsitoli, Nias Barat, Nias Utara, Humbang Hasundutan, Labuhanbatu, Simalungun, Karo, Tapanuli Selatan, Pakpak Bharat, Sibolga, Tapanuli Tengah, Serdangbedagai, Tebingtinggi, Mandailing Natal, Toba, Medan, and Deliserdang.In addition to projects that have entered the physical construction stage, several other initiatives have reached the contract stage. A total of 14 projects are currently at this stage, consisting of PHTC and PSD projects, as well as a disaster recovery project involving the construction of a new bridge on the Simpangtiga Namu Unggas–Tangkahan provincial road section in Langkat Regency.
The North Sumatra Provincial Government is also accelerating various administrative stages in the development process. A total of 13 physical construction projects are currently in the tender phase.
These projects include PHTC initiatives, post-natural disaster reconstruction works, and infrastructure projects funded through the Regional Transfer Fund (Dana Transfer ke Daerah/TKD). One of the projects currently undergoing the tender process is the construction of retaining walls, slope reinforcement structures, and gabions along the Kuala–Simpang Marike route in Langkat Regency as part of disaster recovery efforts.Meanwhile, five Regional Strategic Projects (PSD) remain in the procurement process, particularly during the preparation and publication stage of the General Procurement Plan (Rencana Umum Pengadaan/RUP). These projects are located in Nias Barat and Nias Selatan Regencies.
Two additional projects are still in the preparation phase before the publication of the RUP. These include the optimization of the centralized domestic wastewater management system (Sistem Pengelolaan Air Limbah Domestik/SPALD) in a strategic provincial area, funded through fiscal incentives from the 2025 budget year in Deliserdang Regency.Another project involves the structural improvement of the Sihaporas road section (bordering Padang Lawas Utara Regency)–Paringgonan, which is financed through the 2026 Palm Oil Revenue Sharing Fund (Dana Bagi Hasil/DBH Sawit) and remaining DBH Sawit allocations from the 2024 fiscal year.

The planned works include repairs to bridge approaches, construction of retaining walls, slope reinforcement structures, and gabions on provincial roads, as well as the replacement of several bridges damaged by natural disasters.
These reconstruction projects will be implemented in several areas, including Langkat, Pakpak Bharat, Humbang Hasundutan, Tapanuli Utara, Sibolga, Tapanuli Tengah, Tapanuli Selatan, and Mandailing Natal.Chandra Dalimunthe emphasized that the North Sumatra Provincial Government will continue to ensure that every stage of development is carried out effectively and measurably, from the tender process and contract administration to construction implementation, including infrastructure projects related to disaster management.
"We continue to ensure that the entire development process, starting from the tender stage to the contract phase, is carried out effectively and measurably, including infrastructure measures aimed at addressing the impacts of disasters," Chandra said.Through the acceleration of various development stages, the North Sumatra Provincial Government hopes that all 2026 infrastructure projects can be completed on schedule and provide benefits to the community, particularly by improving regional connectivity and supporting economic growth across the province.
