MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The North Sumatra Provincial Government has reaffirmed that the 2026 revised regional budget will focus on programs and measures that deliver concrete and tangible benefits to the public. The commitment was among the key points raised in the North Sumatra governor's response to the general views delivered by factions of the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives (DPRD Sumut) on the draft revision of the 2026 regional budget.
North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya delivered the response on Friday, August 28, 2026, during a plenary session of the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives at the DPRD building on Jalan Imam Bonjol in Medan.The delivery of the governor's response by the deputy governor formed part of the consultation process between the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the Regional House of Representatives on the draft revision of the province's 2026 regional budget.
During the session, the provincial government responded to various views, suggestions, questions and comments submitted by the DPRD factions. All of the input is expected to serve as a basis for further revisions to the draft 2026 regional budget.Surya said the DPRD's input played an important role in ensuring that budget policies addressed the needs of the public while supporting the achievement of regional development targets.
"The North Sumatra Provincial Government expresses its gratitude and appreciation to the DPRD factions for all of their views, proposals and suggestions. These contributions are an important part of the process of improving the revised regional budget for the 2026 fiscal year," Surya said.According to Surya, this policy direction is necessary to ensure that every allocation of funds genuinely reflects the needs of the public and contributes to the development of North Sumatra.
The provincial government also responded to several issues particularly highlighted by the DPRD factions. The discussions cover various aspects of the revised regional budget, including regional revenues, expenditures, financing and the implementation of development programs.The provincial government's response to the factions' views is an important part of the continued preparation of the draft 2026 revised regional budget. Sutarto said the next plenary session of the North Sumatra DPRD is scheduled for September 10, 2026. The agenda will include the final statements of the factions on the draft revision of North Sumatra's regional budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
Following the delivery of the final faction statements, the North Sumatra DPRD and the provincial government will jointly decide on the draft 2026 revised regional budget.The step will mark the conclusion of the series of consultations between the legislative and executive branches before the regional government implements the budget revision in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The North Sumatra DPRD plenary session on Friday, August 28, 2026, was attended by, among others, Acting North Sumatra Regional Secretary Timur Tumanggor, DPRD leaders and members, the North Sumatra Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, as well as representatives of various agencies and organizational units within the provincial government.
