MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has reaffirmed his full support for the implementation of the 11th Regional Jamboree (Jamda XI) of the Scout Movement in North Sumatra, scheduled to take place in 2026. The major Indonesian scouting event is planned for July 8–12, 2026, at the Sibolangit Camping Ground, Bumi Perkemahan Sibolangit, and is expected to bring together approximately 5,575 participants and visitors from various districts and cities across the province.
The endorsement was conveyed by Bobby Nasution, who also serves as the Chairman of the Regional Scout Advisory Council (Kamabida), during a meeting with the leadership of the North Sumatra Scout Council (Kwarda) at the Tengku Rizal Nurdin Hall, the official residence of the governor in Medan, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman No. 41, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.He also praised the innovative approach of Kwarda North Sumatra, which has successfully integrated the fundamental values of scouting with the development of digital technology.
"We see that Kwarda North Sumatra's activities combine technology with the core principles of scouting. This is important so that children can continue to live by scouting values without feeling like they are stuck in the past," he said.Bobby noted that this technology-based approach is an important strategy to increase youth interest, which has been declining in recent years. Many young people consider scouting outdated, despite its significant strategic benefits.
"We observe that youth interest in scouting has been decreasing. Many think scouting is only for those who will later join environmental organizations or study forestry. In fact, scouting offers many valuable benefits," he added.
Bobby Nasution underlined that the various skills within the Scout Movement play an important role in everyday life as well as professional development.
Skills such as wilderness survival training, tent building, leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility are seen as essential in shaping resilient and adaptable individuals. He also commended the fact that the jamboree does not impose additional fees on participants, calling it a positive model that could be adopted in other regions across Indonesia.
Furthermore, Bobby highlighted the importance of educational programs conducted by Kwarda North Sumatra in collaboration with various partners, including drug prevention institutions. These programs are not only delivered theoretically but also practiced directly in the field."This jamboree is expected to become a momentum for shaping young people with integrity, technical competence, adaptability, social engagement, and national awareness," he said.
Chairman of Kwarda North Sumatra Scouts, Dikky Anugerah Panjaitan, stated that the 11th Regional Jamboree is not only a gathering of scouts but also an effort to generate economic benefits for communities around Sibolangit.
The number of participants this year is notably high, with approximately 5,575 participants and visitors expected to attend the event at the tourist camping area."So far, enthusiasm among participants has been very high. Around 5,575 participants and visitors will join the jamboree excitement in the Sibolangit tourism area," he said.

All program components are designed to prepare participants for future challenges, particularly in character development, food security awareness, life skills, and the positive use of technology.
He also expressed hope that the Kamabida of North Sumatra would personally attend the campfire ceremony and main jamboree events to provide additional motivation and moral support to the youth. The 11th North Sumatra Scout Jamboree is intended for scouts aged 11 to 15 from all 33 regencies and cities across the province. The event aims to serve as a platform for nurturing creative, independent, and strong-character youth prepared for future challenges. (IDNC)
