LANGKAT | INDATANEWS.COM - The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, has awarded scholarships to two Santri at Pesantren Ibadurrahman in Langkat Regency. He has also pledged support for the renovation of nine classrooms to create safer and more comfortable learning conditions.

Bobby announced the support during a visit and inspection of Pesantren Ibadurrahman in Stabat, Langkat Regency, on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. During his visit, he paid particular attention to the Santri's access to education, including opportunities to continue their studies through to university.

The two scholarship recipients are Lutfy Aulia, a pupil in Class 6 IPS, equivalent to Year 13 in secondary school, and Zaky Arsyad Lubis, who is also in Class 6. Both received scholarships after successfully answering questions from Bobby Nasution and Langkat's acting regent, Tiorita br. Surbakti.

Bobby encouraged the two Santri to continue studying diligently and pursuing their ambitions with determination. He also pledged to support their education through to university graduation, including if they wished to continue their studies overseas.

"Study hard and continue your education to a higher level. You are now in Year 13, so you will be at university in 2027. Choose the university you want to attend. We will cover the costs, including for studying abroad," Bobby Nasution said during his meeting with the Santri.

The commitment is intended to motivate the Santri to actively shape their future through education. Bobby's message makes clear that opportunities for university study need not be limited to institutions in Indonesia. Studying at an overseas university that matches their aspirations is also an option for the Santri.

Scholarships Open Doors to University Education

The scholarships awarded to Lutfy and Zaky were among the main priorities of the visit. Both are nearing the end of their school education and approaching a crucial stage at which they must decide on their future academic pathways.

Bobby urged the Santri to make the most of their learning opportunities. He emphasised the importance of perseverance in acquiring knowledge and the courage to plan their education through to higher qualifications.

The financial assistance is also intended to help remove barriers facing Santri who wish to continue their studies. Through this opportunity, the pupils are expected to develop their academic abilities while preparing for the challenges and competition of the future.

Bobby also reminded the Santri to support one another and foster a positive educational environment. In his view, education should not focus solely on academic achievement, but should also promote character development, faith and piety.

Nine Classrooms Set for Renovation

Alongside the scholarships, Bobby Nasution announced plans to support the renovation of nine classrooms at Pesantren Ibadurrahman. He made the commitment after inspecting the condition of the teaching rooms and facilities at the boarding school.

The classroom renovations are an important part of supporting the teaching and learning process. Safe and comfortable learning spaces are expected to help the Santri participate more effectively in lessons and continue their education in suitable conditions.

"We will support the renovation of nine classrooms so that you can study more safely. I sincerely hope that you will support one another and become people who are faithful, devout and high-achieving," Bobby Nasution said.

The renovation pledge also demonstrates that educational support is not limited to funding for pupils, but extends to the condition of the facilities and infrastructure needed to deliver lessons.

Pesantren play an important role in developing a young generation equipped with scientific knowledge, strong character and religious values. Improving the quality of learning infrastructure is therefore one of the needs that deserves particular attention.

The support is expected to enable Pesantren Ibadurrahman to create an even better learning environment for its Santri. The renovation of the nine classrooms is also expected to have a positive, long-term impact on the school's educational activities.

Bicycles and Digital Devices for Santri

During the same visit, Bobby Nasution also distributed bicycles, tablets and mobile phones to male and female Santri. These material contributions complement the educational assistance provided to the boarding school.

Digital devices can help the Santri access learning materials and broaden their knowledge. The bicycles, meanwhile, are intended to support their daily activities and practical needs.

The chairman of the Pesantren Ibadurrahman Foundation, Ustaz Ahmad Mukhlis Siregar, expressed his gratitude to Bobby Nasution and Tiorita br. Surbakti for their visit and the support provided to the boarding school.

He said he hoped the assistance would contribute to the development of the Pesantren and strengthen the institution's efforts to nurture a high-achieving younger generation.

"We are very grateful to the Governor and the Regent for their visit. Thank you for the support and scholarships. InsyaAllah, this boarding school will produce a generation that is faithful, devout and high-achieving," Mukhlis said.

The visit was also attended by several representatives of the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the Langkat Regency Government. They included the Head of the North Sumatra Education Office, Alexander Sinulingga; the Head of the North Sumatra Youth and Sports Office, Mahfullah Pratama Daulay; and the Head of the North Sumatra Communication and Informatics Office, Erwin Hotmansah Harahap.

Representatives of Langkat's regional authorities, religious figures and education sector representatives were also present during the inspection.

The scholarships, classroom renovations and provision of learning equipment for Pesantren Ibadurrahman form part of efforts to improve access to education and its quality. Bobby hopes the Santri will continue developing their abilities, uphold their values of faith and piety, and have the courage to pursue their ambitions through to the highest possible level of education.
