BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - Deputy Speaker of the Banda Aceh Legislative Council (DPRK), Daniel Abdul Wahab, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration to accelerate the development of Banda Aceh City during the Banda Aceh Government Leadership Retreat held at Mata Ie Resort, Sabang, on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The event was attended by heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) within the Banda Aceh administration. Representing the DPRK leadership, Daniel outlined the legislative body's commitment to supporting the city's future development agenda.Banda Aceh Mayor Illiza Sa'aduddin Djamal officially opened the leadership retreat, which served as a strategic forum for policymakers to formulate more effective and sustainable regional development strategies.

During his presentation, Daniel highlighted several major challenges still facing Banda Aceh, including the strengthening of Islamic Sharia implementation, inclusive urban planning, economic growth, flood mitigation, and waste management.
He also stressed the importance of delivering fast and efficient public services. According to him, the government must continue strengthening the education sector, improving the quality of human resources, and empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as the creative economy to support regional economic growth.Daniel stated that governments today are facing increasingly complex realities, as public expectations continue to rise while regional budget capacities remain limited. Therefore, budget allocation must focus on priority programs that directly benefit the community.

Collaboration Becomes Key to Successful Development
The NasDem Party politician underlined that successful development can only be achieved through strong collaboration among all stakeholders."Successful development is built through collaboration, not competition," he said.

He added that development would move faster, become stronger, and deliver more tangible impacts when both the legislative and executive branches share the same vision.
Daniel also called on all regional stakeholders to maintain synergy in order to realize a more advanced, orderly, and prosperous Banda Aceh under the framework of Islamic Sharia."Let us continue strengthening this synergy for a more progressive, well-organized, and prosperous Banda Aceh within the framework of Islamic Sharia," he stated.

Daniel further explained that the DPRK's oversight function is not intended to find faults within the government, but to ensure that development programs are implemented more effectively and remain on target.
"Differences should never hinder the interests of the people," he emphasized.Through the leadership retreat, policymakers are expected to strengthen their shared vision and synergy between the legislative and executive branches, along with all regional stakeholders, in addressing various urban development challenges in Banda Aceh.
