DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Deputy Mayor, Lom Lom Suwondo, officially opened the PKN Sumut Cup I 2026 football tournament, a championship trophy event organized by the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the National Youth Organization Pemuda Karya Nasional (PKN) North Sumatra, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Pancur Batu District Town Square (Alun-Alun).
The tournament opening was marked by a symbolic first kick toward the goal. The ceremonial kick was carried out by Deli Serdang Deputy Mayor Lom Lom Suwondo together with the Chairman of DPD PKN North Sumatra, the Chairman of GRIB Jaya North Sumatra, and the Chairman of the Daily Executive Board of the PKN Central Leadership Council (DPP). The moment officially marked the start of the football competition.
The tournament is attended by several teams from various regions across North Sumatra. The event serves as an important step in supporting football development while providing young athletes with opportunities to improve their skills, showcase their talents, and gain valuable sporting experience.

In his speech, Deli Serdang Deputy Mayor Lom Lom Suwondo praised the initiative of DPD PKN North Sumatra for organizing the tournament. He emphasized that sporting events of this kind represent a commitment to developing the younger generation through positive and productive activities.
According to Lom Lom, football is not merely a competition focused on winning, but also a medium for building character among young people. Through sports, players can develop important values such as fairness, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance in facing various challenges.
"The Deli Serdang Regency Government expresses its appreciation to the Chairman of DPD PKN North Sumatra, Mr. Edi Suranta Gurusinga, and all parties involved who have demonstrated their commitment to sports development and youth empowerment through this tournament," said Lom Lom.
He expressed hope that the PKN North Sumatra DPD Chairman's Football Trophy Cup I 2026 would produce talented football players capable of bringing pride to Deli Serdang and North Sumatra in various sporting events.
"May this tournament become a healthy competition, produce new football talents, and strengthen unity and togetherness within the community," he said.
Chairman of DPD PKN North Sumatra Edi Suranta Gurusinga stated that the tournament serves as a platform to develop and identify potential football talents across North Sumatra.
He explained that the event is not only a competition between teams but also an opportunity for young players to demonstrate their abilities, gain competitive experience, and continue developing their football potential.
Edi encouraged all participants to maintain a strong spirit of sportsmanship throughout the tournament. He urged players to uphold fair-play values, while referees were expected to carry out their duties professionally to ensure all matches proceeded smoothly.
He also appealed to the public and team supporters to maintain a safe, orderly, and peaceful atmosphere during the matches so the tournament could be successfully conducted.

Chairman of the PKN Sumut Cup I 2026 Organizing Committee, Ibrahim, reported that a total of 12 teams are participating in the competition. The participating teams come from Pancur Batu District and several other regions in North Sumatra.
According to Ibrahim, the high number of participants reflects the community's enthusiasm for the development of regional football. The tournament is expected to provide players with opportunities to improve their abilities and gain valuable experience in football competitions.
The opening ceremony of the PKN North Sumatra DPD Chairman's Football Trophy Cup I 2026 was also attended by Pancur Batu District Head Feri Sepnanda, representatives from the District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam), the Chairman of GRIB Jaya North Sumatra, the Chairman of the Daily Executive Board of DPP PKN, community and youth leaders, youth organizations, as well as local residents.
Through this tournament, the Deli Serdang Government and DPD PKN North Sumatra hope regional football will continue to grow and produce a new generation of successful young athletes.
