HOUSE FIRE IN KOTAPINANG: A fire destroys a residential house and a vehicle in Sialang Bujing village, Pasir Tuntung sub-village, Kotapinang District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, on Wednesday evening, May 13, 2026, leaving the structure almost completely ruined.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM A major fire broke out on Wednesday evening, May 13, 2026, in Sialang Bujing village, Pasir Tuntung sub-village, Kotapinang District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The blaze, which started at around 7:05 p.m. WIB, completely destroyed a permanent residential house and a car, reducing both to ruins.

The house belonged to Azhar Simbolon. At the time of the incident, the homeowner was not present, leaving the property empty when the fire suddenly ignited and spread rapidly.

Sudden Blaze Sparks Panic Among Residents

The fast-moving flames triggered panic among local residents. Within minutes, thick smoke filled the night sky as the fire engulfed large parts of the house. Neighbors rushed out of their homes to witness the incident and attempt initial assistance.

An eyewitness said the fire initially appeared as a small spark in one part of the house before quickly escalating out of control.

"The fire suddenly grew very large. Since the house was empty, residents immediately tried to help using simple equipment while waiting for the fire brigade," the witness said at the scene.

Community Efforts Fail to Contain Fire

Residents attempted to extinguish the blaze using buckets of water and available nearby water sources. However, the intensity of the fire and the highly flammable building materials made containment impossible.

Within a short time, the flames also spread to a nearby parked vehicle, which was completely burned and heavily damaged.

House Reduced to Ruins, Investigation Underway

The growing intensity of the fire caused the structure to lose its shape as parts of the roof and walls collapsed under extreme heat during the incident. The fire drew significant attention in the densely populated neighborhood, though fortunately it did not spread to adjacent houses.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire. An investigation is currently underway to identify the origin of the blaze. No casualties were reported, while total material losses are still being assessed.

Residents are hoping for a swift investigation outcome to prevent similar incidents in the future. (IDNC)
