Aceh Tengah Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minor

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL OFFENSE: Aceh Tengah Police arrest a man identified as MAB, suspected of sexually harassing a minor in Lut Tawar District.

ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Aceh Tengah Police, through its Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA), has arrested a 21-year-old man identified by the initials MAB from Bener Meriah Regency. He is suspected of committing an offense under Aceh's Islamic criminal law (Jarimah) involving the alleged sexual harassment of a minor.

The arrest took place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at around 11:00 a.m. local time, shortly after police received a formal complaint from the victim's family.

According to Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, through Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Abdul Mufakhir, S.H., M.H., the case began with an official police report (LP/B/58/IV/2026/SPKT/Polres Aceh Tengah/Polda Aceh) filed on the same day.

The complainant is the victim's mother, a resident of Bebesen District, Aceh Tengah. Her 17-year-old daughter is alleged to have been the victim of the incident.

Incident in Lut Tawar District

The alleged incident occurred on Friday, April 17, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m. inside a residential house in the Lut Tawar District, Aceh Tengah Regency. The suspect is believed to have sexually harassed the minor at that location.

The victim's family reportedly reacted with shock following the incident and immediately reported it to law enforcement authorities.

Swift Police Response and Investigation

Following the report, Satreskrim Polres Aceh Tengah immediately launched an investigation and apprehended the suspect. He was taken to the PPA Unit for further questioning.

During initial interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the allegations.

"After completing the initial investigation, the individual has been named a suspect and is currently being held at Aceh Tengah Police for further legal processing," said AKP Abdul Mufakhir.

Legal Proceedings and Child Protection Commitment

The suspect will be charged under Article 50 in conjunction with Article 47 of Aceh Qanun No. 12 of 2025, which amends Qanun No. 6 of 2014 concerning Islamic Criminal Law (Qanun Jinayat).
