416 Workers in Maluku Utara Complete National Vocational Training

TERNATE | INDATANEWS.COM - A total of 416 workers in Maluku Utara have completed the fourth batch of the National Vocational Training (Pelatihan Vokasi Nasional/PVN). The training was held at the Ternate Vocational Training and Productivity Center (BPVP) and the Sofifi Vocational Training and Productivity Service Unit (Satpel PVP). The graduates are now equipped with competencies to support their entry into the workforce while also opening opportunities for them to pursue independent business activities.

Indonesian Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor said the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) would continue strengthening the link between vocational training programs and the needs of businesses and industry (DUDI). Aligning training content with labor market requirements is essential to ensure that the skills acquired by participants remain relevant to the continuously changing demands of the labor market.

Afriansyah made the statement on Friday, September 18, 2026, during the graduation ceremony for the fourth PVN batch and the simultaneous opening of productivity improvement training at BPVP Ternate, Maluku Utara.

"Today's completion of the training does not mark the end of the learning process. Instead, it is the beginning for participants to apply the competencies they have acquired in practice," Afriansyah said.

Competencies as a Foundation for Entering the Workforce

According to Afriansyah, the competencies and skills acquired through PVN training can provide workers in Maluku Utara with an important foundation for entering the workforce. These skills can also help them improve their productivity and adapt to changing industrial requirements.

He emphasized that local workers must possess skills that keep pace with developments in the world of work, particularly amid rapid technological changes. Vocational training, therefore, should not focus solely on successfully completing a program but must also equip participants with practical skills that they can apply after returning to their workplaces or communities.

According to Afriansyah, the Ministry of Manpower continues to work to strengthen the connection between vocational training and the requirements of businesses and industry. Through this approach, participants gain not only technical knowledge and practical skills but are also prepared to respond to increasingly dynamic demands in the workplace.

Afriansyah also encouraged graduates not to view limited employment opportunities as a reason to stop developing their competencies. Participants who do not immediately secure employment after completing the training can use their newly acquired skills to identify economic opportunities and establish businesses independently.

"We encourage graduates to use these competencies to build their own businesses and create new jobs," he said.

The initiative is also intended to encourage graduates to look beyond being solely job seekers. With the skills they have acquired, they can develop productive activities that are aligned with the potential and demand in their respective regions.

Productivity Training Focuses on Continuous Improvement

Alongside the completion of the fourth PVN batch, the Ministry of Manpower also organized productivity improvement training at BPVP Ternate. The program is part of efforts to strengthen workers' and other economically active people's understanding of the importance of efficiency and quality in carrying out their work.

Afriansyah explained that productivity cannot be measured solely by how quickly a person completes a task. It also involves the ability to produce effective, efficient and high-quality results while creating added value for the regional economy.

Therefore, participants in the productivity training must be able to identify various problems that arise during work processes. The ability to recognize obstacles is an important step toward developing improvements that can contribute to higher quality and greater efficiency.

"Participants are expected to be able to identify obstacles in the workplace and develop sustainable solutions as well as continuous improvements," he said.

This approach is intended to enable workers not only to complete tasks according to predetermined targets but also to evaluate existing work processes. Continuous improvements can contribute to more efficient workflows and benefit both businesses and the regional economy.

The productivity training is also part of broader efforts to strengthen the quality of human resources. When workers possess both technical skills and an understanding of productivity principles, businesses and industries can draw on personnel who are better equipped to adapt to change.

416 Graduates from 26 Training Packages

The fourth batch of National Vocational Training at BPVP Ternate was attended by 176 participants distributed across 11 training packages. The program is part of a series of vocational training initiatives organized by the Ministry of Manpower to strengthen the competencies of workers in Maluku Utara.

Together with the program conducted at Satpel PVP Sofifi, the fourth PVN batch produced a total of 416 graduates from 26 training packages. The figure demonstrates the reach of vocational training programs aimed at serving participants across several areas of Maluku Utara.

The graduates are expected to apply the skills they acquired during training as soon as possible after completing the program. Those who secure employment can use their competencies as a foundation for carrying out their duties professionally. For graduates who have not yet found employment, their acquired skills can serve as a foundation for establishing their own businesses and creating new economic activities.

The Ministry of Manpower also encourages participants to continue developing their skills after completing the training. Technological progress and changing industrial requirements demand lifelong learning and continuous competency development from workers so that their skills remain relevant to labor market needs.

Afriansyah emphasized that completing the training does not mark the end of competency development. Rather, graduation represents the beginning of a new phase in which participants can put their acquired skills into practice and make a concrete contribution to themselves, the workforce and the regional economy.

By strengthening vocational training and productivity improvement programs, the government hopes workers in Maluku Utara will become increasingly prepared to meet the demands of the workplace. At the same time, the competencies they acquire can contribute to the establishment of independent businesses and the creation of new jobs, thereby supporting the region's economic development.
