ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Aceh Tengah Police, through its Women and Children Protection (PPA) Unit, has uncovered an alleged case of child sexual abuse and rape in Aceh Tengah Regency. Following an intensive investigation, officers arrested three suspects on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The investigation began after police received information from the public, which was officially recorded under Police Report Number LP/B/71/V/2026/SPKT/Polres Aceh Tengah/Polda Aceh dated May 18, 2026. Investigators from the PPA Unit immediately interviewed the victim, questioned several witnesses, and gathered evidence through extensive field investigations until the identities of the suspects were confirmed.Of the three suspects, one is an adult. The 18-year-old suspect has the initials H. The other two suspects, identified by the initials A and M, are minors. All legal proceedings involving the juvenile suspects are being conducted in accordance with Indonesia's Juvenile Criminal Justice System.
Police are treating the case with the utmost seriousness because the victim is a child entitled to full legal protection. The Aceh Tengah Police reaffirmed their commitment to thoroughly investigating all cases of sexual violence against children and ensuring that legal proceedings are carried out in accordance with applicable laws.The PPA investigation team, led by Aipda Maryadi, subsequently accompanied the victim to Rusip Antara District. Further investigations at the location provided officers with crucial information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects.
Based on the findings, police first arrested suspect H. At approximately 3:00 p.m. local time, officers apprehended him without resistance during a wedding ceremony in Arul Kumer Village before taking him to the Aceh Tengah Police headquarters for questioning.The subsequent interrogation of H provided investigators with additional information regarding the locations of the two juvenile suspects. To prevent any possibility of escape, officers immediately continued the operation.
At around 5:45 p.m., police arrested suspect A at his residence in a village within Rusip Antara District. Shortly afterward, at approximately 6:00 p.m., suspect M was also taken into custody at the same location.The successful arrests of all three suspects within a short period demonstrated the close coordination between investigators from the PPA Unit and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Aceh Tengah Police.
Following the arrests, all three suspects were taken to the Aceh Tengah Police headquarters for further questioning. Investigators also completed procedural documents, reviewed the available evidence, and prepared the case files in accordance with prevailing legal regulations.
In this case, investigators have applied Article 50 in conjunction with Article 47 of Aceh Qanun No. 12 of 2025, which amends Aceh Qanun No. 6 of 2014 on Jinayat Criminal Law, in conjunction with Law No. 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System.The application of both legal provisions is based on allegations of sexual crimes against a child, while two of the suspects are minors. Consequently, all investigative procedures are being carried out in accordance with legal provisions governing the protection of children in conflict with the law.
Throughout the investigation, police have also prioritized safeguarding the victim's rights. Psychological assistance and legal support for the child remain an integral part of the judicial process to ensure comprehensive protection throughout the proceedings.According to police, combating sexual violence against children remains one of the highest priorities for law enforcement agencies. Increased public participation in reporting relevant information is expected to play a significant role in detecting similar crimes at an early stage.
Authorities further emphasized that society plays a vital role in both preventing and helping solve cases of child sexual violence. Early reporting enables investigators to act quickly and may prevent further crimes from occurring.In addition, the Aceh Tengah Police stressed that protecting children is a shared responsibility. Alongside law enforcement agencies, families, educational institutions, community leaders, and all sectors of society have an important role in creating a safe environment for children.
Through the successful investigation of this case, the Aceh Tengah Police hope that the judicial process will proceed transparently, professionally, and fairly while providing a strong deterrent against perpetrators of sexual violence.
