PEACEFUL RALLY SUPPORTS MBG: Hundreds of members of the “Masyarakat Peduli MBG Deli Serdang” forum gathered on June 22, 2026, in the courtyard of the government office in Lubuk Pakam to support the continuation of the Makan Bergizi Gratis program and submit a petition.

DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Hundreds of residents gathered under the forum Masyarakat Peduli Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) Deli Serdang held a peaceful mass rally on Monday, June 22, 2026, in the courtyard of the Deli Serdang Regency Government Office in Lubuk Pakam. During the demonstration, participants expressed their support for the continuation of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG/Free Nutritious Meals) program and submitted a petition addressed to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

The demonstration took place in an orderly and peaceful manner under the supervision of security personnel. Participants came from various community backgrounds, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), traders, farmers, livestock breeders, and parents of schoolchildren. Together, they urged the central government to maintain the program, citing its direct impact on public welfare.

Government Response to Public Aspirations

The Deputy Regent of Deli Serdang, Lom Lom Suwondo, personally met with the demonstrators during the rally. His presence was seen as a direct response from the regional government to the public's concerns. He also praised the participants for conducting their expression of opinion in a disciplined and peaceful manner.

He emphasized that the government respects all aspirations conveyed by the public, noting that peaceful demonstrations are part of a healthy democratic process that should be appreciated.

"The Makan Bergizi Gratis program must continue, as it is an important instrument in improving the nutritional quality of children and supporting the development of the younger generation," he said in front of the demonstrators.

The Deputy Regent's statement was warmly received by the participants, who reaffirmed their full support for the continuation of the program.

MBG as an Economic Driver for Local Communities

The Deputy Regent further highlighted the economic impact generated by the MBG program. The involvement of farmers, livestock breeders, and MSME actors in the food supply chain has created a broader economic circulation within the community.

According to him, the program not only serves to provide nutrition for schoolchildren and vulnerable groups but also functions as a driving force for the local economy, particularly benefiting small-scale economic actors.

Participants of the rally also underlined that the program has already delivered tangible benefits to their livelihoods.

Forum Says MBG Creates Jobs and Opportunities

Forum representative Muhammad Hendrik stated that the organization brings together various community groups, including MSME actors, traders, and parents of students. They came to express their support for the continuation of the MBG program by the central government.

He also read an official statement urging the Deli Serdang Regency Government and the Speaker of the Regional House of Representatives to forward their aspirations to President Prabowo Subianto.

According to Hendrik, the program has had a significant positive impact on the nutrition of toddlers, schoolchildren, and pregnant women. It has also contributed to improving the local economic situation.

"Through the MBG program, our economy is greatly supported. We, as farmers, livestock breeders, and MSME actors, are feeling the positive effects," he said.

He added that the program has created new employment opportunities in the region, particularly at a time when jobs in Deli Serdang remain limited.

Support for Indonesia Emas 2045 Vision

Participants of the rally also stated that the continuation of the MBG program aligns with Indonesia's long-term national development vision, Indonesia Emas 2045. They hope the program will not remain a temporary policy, but instead be strengthened as a long-term investment in future generations.

The peaceful action at the Deli Serdang government center concluded with the symbolic submission of the petition to the regional government, with hopes that their demands will be forwarded to the central government. (IDNC)
