MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM – Mayor of Medan, Rico Waas, formally presented the draft regional regulation (Ranperda) on the accountability report for the implementation of the 2025 Regional Budget (APBD) during a plenary session of the Medan City Council (DPRD Kota Medan). The session was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the DPRD Medan building.
The meeting was officially chaired by Council Speaker Wong Chun Sen, and attended by all deputy speakers and council members, alongside senior officials from the Medan municipal government."Each region, under the framework of autonomy, holds financial rights and responsibilities managed through the APBD cycle. The goal is to foster development, strengthen innovation, and sustainably improve public welfare," he stated.
Financial statements from three municipal-owned enterprises were also consolidated into the report, ensuring full transparency and traceability of public funds.
This marks a significant milestone, as Medan has now achieved the WTP status for six consecutive years—an indicator of consistent integrity and sound financial management.
"This achievement reflects that the 2025 financial administration has been conducted in a high-quality, transparent manner in accordance with applicable accounting standards," said Rico Waas.Rico Waas urged all stakeholders to use these achievements as a foundation for further improvements in public financial management.
"The progress achieved should serve as motivation to address remaining weaknesses and continue improving the quality of life for residents," he added.Following the presentation, the mayor officially submitted the draft regulation to the council speaker. Further deliberations will continue in upcoming plenary sessions. (IDNC)
