RESIDENTS QUESTION JADUP ASSISTANCE: Dozens of victims of the hydrometeorological flooding in Badak Village, Dabun Gelang District, Gayo Lues Regency, are demanding the Jadup livelihood assistance that they have yet to receive, despite their houses being directly affected by the disaster.

GAYO LUES | INDATANEWS.COM - Dozens of victims of the hydrometeorological flooding in Badak Village, Dabun Gelang District, Gayo Lues Regency, have questioned the distribution of Jadup assistance (livelihood support). Until now, they have yet to receive the aid, despite their houses being directly affected by the disaster. Some residents suffered severe damage to their homes and were forced to finance repairs using their own resources.

The complaints were raised by several flood victims who believe that the data collection process for Jadup assistance recipients does not yet fully reflect the actual conditions on the ground. The affected residents are urging the government to conduct another verification process to ensure that the assistance reaches those who are truly in need.

One of the flood victims, Amrin (53), said on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, that he was surprised after finding out that he and several other directly affected residents were not included on the list of Jadup assistance recipients. Meanwhile, some other residents in the same village had already received the support.

"We are genuinely victims of the flood disaster. Our houses were directly affected, and some even had to be demolished due to severe damage. But until today, we have not received any Jadup assistance," Amrin said.

Amrin explained that the situation had caused him and other flood victims to question the mechanism used in collecting data on assistance recipients. He suspected that there were indications that some residents whose houses were not directly affected by the flooding had still been included on the recipient list.

"There are residents whose houses are located on higher ground and far from the flood-affected areas, but they still received Jadup assistance. Meanwhile, those of us who live in affected areas and flood zones have received nothing. This has left us confused," he said.

Residents Demand Reassessment of Assistance Data

Amrin further explained that he and other residents had previously participated in the data collection process carried out by various institutions during the flood disaster. The data gathering was conducted by the village administration, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Gayo Lues Regency, as well as teams from the central government.

However, when the Jadup assistance was distributed, their names were not included on the recipient list. This situation raised doubts among residents regarding the accuracy of the previous data collection results.

A similar complaint was expressed by Koreda Fauzi (45). He said his house was severely damaged by the flood, forcing him to carry out repairs using his own funds.

"My house was badly damaged by the flood. Since it could not be left in that condition, I repaired it myself. But when the Jadup assistance was distributed, my name was also not included," Fauzi said.

Fauzi hopes that the government will immediately review the list of assistance recipients to prevent errors in distributing aid to disaster victims.

Victims Report Complaints and Await Clarification

According to Fauzi, the affected residents have already reported the issue to the BPBD of Gayo Lues Regency. They have also submitted their complaints to the Gayo Lues Police to seek clarification regarding the data of Jadup assistance recipients.

However, until now, they have not received any explanation or solution regarding why their names were excluded from the recipient list.

Representing dozens of other flood victims, Amrin and Fauzi urged the government to immediately evaluate and reverify the Jadup recipient data. They hope the process will ensure that the assistance is received by people who were truly affected by the disaster.

"We are only asking for our rights as disaster victims. It should not happen that affected residents are overlooked while people who were not impacted receive assistance. We hope the government quickly finds a solution and corrects the Jadup recipient data," Fauzi said.

As of the publication of this report, the BPBD of Gayo Lues Regency has not issued an official statement regarding residents' complaints from Badak Village concerning the distribution of Jadup assistance. (IDNC)
