DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution personally inspected the condition of Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan in Galang District, Deli Serdang Regency, on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The visit marked a concrete step by the North Sumatra Provincial Government to accelerate road infrastructure improvements that have long been a concern for local residents.
During the inspection, Bobby ensured that road repairs would be carried out promptly to improve both driving comfort and road safety. The provincial government emphasized that better road conditions not only enhance mobility but also serve as a key driver of regional economic growth.
Residents welcomed the presence of North Sumatra's top official, taking the opportunity to directly raise various concerns, including road damage and the impact of heavy-duty trucks passing through the area on a daily basis.
Bobby underlined that road development in Galang is not merely an infrastructure project, but a vital driver of the regional economy. Improved connectivity would facilitate the distribution of agricultural products, speed up logistics flows, and open wider economic opportunities for the community.
He further stated that the government had prepared concrete measures to improve road infrastructure in Deli Serdang Regency. For the 2026 fiscal year, more than IDR 17 billion from the North Sumatra regional budget (APBD Sumut) has been allocated for upgrading the Lubuk Pakam–Tanah Abang provincial road segment, spanning 3 kilometers.
The project is being implemented by PT Rapi Arjasa, aiming to build a more durable road structure capable of withstanding daily heavy vehicle traffic.

Meanwhile, structural improvement of the Tanah Abang–Galang–Serdang Bedagai border road segment, covering 2.05 kilometers, is also included in the priority list. More than IDR 14 billion from the 2026 APBD Sumut has been allocated for this project, which is being executed by CV Cipta Karya Nusantara.
Firm Action Against Illegal Activities
Bobby Nasution reaffirmed the government's firm stance against illegal Galian C operations, which residents say have significantly contributed to road damage. These activities are set to be shut down.
"I have directly heard from residents that many heavy vehicles pass through here. We will ensure this is stopped. They must obtain permits," he said.
At the same time, he emphasized that legal economic activities may continue as long as all regulations are complied with. In such cases, the government will provide special access routes to reduce the burden on public roads.
"The road in Galang District is designed for an 8-ton load. If operators apply for permits, we will create separate access routes," he explained.

Bobby also urged the Regent of Deli Serdang, Asri Ludin Tambunan, to repair roads under the district government's jurisdiction, noting that the provincial government is ready to provide financial support.
"Please carry out the repairs; we will support them financially," he said.
He further called on residents and content creators to actively monitor infrastructure projects, encouraging the public to report any issues directly through social media.
"Let's oversee road construction together. If there are problems, tag me on Facebook or social media," Bobby said.
A local resident, Juli, voiced ongoing concerns over the impact of heavy truck traffic, including dust pollution and flooding that continue to disrupt daily life.
She stressed the importance of stricter vehicle tonnage control, arguing that sustainable road quality can only be achieved with proper enforcement.
"It is pointless to repair the road if heavy trucks continue to exceed the limit," she said. (IDNC)
